Tinyflier
September '12 I bought an '06 Zed in gunmetal grey and instantly the mod itch set in. So far (prior to yesterday I have done/had done the following mods: 1) Stubby aerial 2) B pillar carbon effect (Nismo) garnishes 3) Miltek exhaust 4) Berks HFCs 5) HKS air filter 6) Uprev remap by Abbey Motorsport 7) Fitted widescreen TomTom in upper cubby (near OEM look) 8) Painted rear strut cover (used Plastidip) 9) Carbon wrapped engine cover 10) Carbon effect bonnet hydraulic struts (and removal of bonnet stay) 11) Rear parking sensors 12) Cargo net in boot 13) Rear upper tonneau shelf/shield 14) Boot divider under rear strut brace 15) Thicker/luxury rear boot carpet. 16) Handbrake leather gaiter Some of the mods are shown below. TomTom fitted into cubby - wired to "auto start/shut down" with ingnition. Saturday - apart from wrestling and succeding with the "Flip key" mod, I finally had the painted covers on the front grille removed (they are screwed on, can only reach from through top hole by the radiator or by removing the bumper or undertray - I cheated and had Sly at Kaizer Motors remove them when I paid him a visit...). Then when back home I fitted my Zunsport Grille - and am very pleased with the result. Front with painted covers removed. With Zunsport Grille in place. Wondering whether or not to paint/wrap the part of the bumper under the grille now. Plastidipped rear strut brace cover. Handbrake gaitor I also fitted and had a play with one of these; This gives WiFi connectivity to my iPad and iPhone showing a host of fault codes, information, readings, gauges - sorry the images aren't the best (must get round to sorting out my cubby button mess!) - but you get the idea. You can configure the displays to suit your preference, also has perfromance (acceleration) settings. Is it useful? Perhaps, perhaps not. Is it fun - yes - although for max fun would be best played with while someone else is driving the car! Next major job is refurb of my wheels which scheduled for strip and powder coat March 18th - will bore everyone with pics of those after. Thanks also (in advance) to PapaSmurf - should have my auto mirror fold gizmo fitted soon too. Still a long list of things I want to do... How is the wrap holding up from the heat? It isn't! Some lifting in the complex curve areas. Not sure if this was down to some small area of poor preparation or heat - I need to investigate. Will have to take a pic during the week and post it up. David
D8NMT
What is the model of your sat nav? I'm looking for one to for in the cubby and yours looks like a perfect fit. Did you have to modify the cubby in any way?
Tinyflier
What is the model of your sat nav? I'm looking for one to for in the cubby and yours looks like a perfect fit. Did you have to modify the cubby in any way? It is a TomTom Start 60 and yes the cubby is modified, see if I can explain how! 1) The floor of the cubby has a slot cut in it to allow the unit to sit slightly lower otherwise it will foul on the top inner "shoulders" of the cubby. 2) A very small amount as been removed from the top of the cubby shoulders to allow the unit to sit tilted slightly back (although I don't think that is essential). 3) There is a metal bracket inside the cubby (screwed in from the top) with a strong Velcro pad that grips the other part if the Velcro that is stuck to the unit (that allows me to remove the unit to update it as you need access to rear to plug in USB/PC cable). 4) The power cable is run down inside cubby floor to an adaptor allowing use of supplied power socket adaptor. 5) The rubber inner part in the bottom of the cubby is trimmed to fit around the unit so you can't actually see the slot it sits in. I will post some pics at weekend of the "innards", will give you a better idea. David Edited February 19, 2013 by Tinyflier
Tinyflier
The floor of the cubby has had a slot cut in it as the Start60 is too tall to fit the standard space. The rubber mat has been trimmed to suit. The "shoulders" at the top of the cubby had to be trimmed slightly to accommodate. You can also see the metal bracket with the velcro fixer that secures the unit and the power cable disappearing down to passenger footwell. I guess it doesn't look terribly pretty but once the unit is fitted it is much better!

Tinyflier
Collected my car from The Wheel Specialist in East Grinstead yesterday - all wheels stripped, "un-kerbed", powder coated and lacquered. They also fitted 20f/25r spacers (supplied VERY quickly by Cougar Store - Excellent delivery Mitz thank you). Can't recommend Wheel Specialist highly enough. Great range of finishes/options, superb customer service and they straightened out a "flat" in my wheel rim without problem. So here is wheel before: Wheel after - fiinish has a lovely metallic sparkle and depth which doesn't really show in today's crappy weather, also had flush fit valves fitted. Here it is "spacered" Another couple of items on my mods list ticked off! David
Tinyflier
This weekend the plan was to machine polish the paint but ... too cold... so... I gave the engine bay a good clean (still bits of it I am not happy with but I'll deal with that when we get something other than arctic weather. (I think I need some polished/coloured bolts...!) Also fitted my carbon cooling plate (from RT-Performance) and carbon engine cover (from Tarmac Sportz) and most importantly acknowledgement to Abbey Motorsport (sticker from RT Biscuit) for their ongoing good works on the Zed. Tinyflier
Tonight I fitted this rather tidy carbon strut brace - as purchased from Wasso - Amazed at the weight of the standard strut brace (3.7 k) versus this super CF one (1.3k)! Tinyflier
Engine bay coming along looking good, how much did the wheel refurb set you back, been looking for a place for mine TheWheelSpecialist in East Grinstead. £340 for full strip, powder coat, repair a bit of a bend in one rim, refit tyres and rebalance, put on spacers and mount wheels. Top class job. The iobd2 looks bad ass where does it plug in? Into the OBD port which is just in front of you under the bonnet release. Tinyflier
I want an iobd2! Will it work in my 2004 Zed? Is it the same port/standard as the '06? I think the answer is yes to that question, obviously the connections are identical for the reader and all models are OBD-II compliant I believe. On setup you simply chose the make/model of your car - I don't recall being asked for the year of manufacture. Remember when setting it up/using it - you need to use the WiFi option NOT the Bluetooth option -twice I thought mine had stopped broadcasting before I realised it is a WiFi connection (instructions to establish first time connection are in the box and easy to follow - after that you just select WiFi from the connection option when you start up the app. David

Tinyflier
Saturday saw my first visit to the fabled Zed Shed where in the blistering heat Buster laboured hard (no... honestly he really did...!) to: 1) Remove front bumper and fit clear reflectors 2) Slide headlamps out and fit silvered indicator bulbs 3) Re-fit front splitter (this bonded at front, couple of small screws in wheel arch). Originally fitted by RT-Performance, I had removed it to paint it in Satin Black rather than standard finish gel coat - even though I say so myself I think I did a not half bad paint job on it too! 4) Fit the sidesteps I recently bought from Tarmac Sportz (which by the way are the absolutely BEST FRP mouldings I have ever seen with a superb external finish) All done in a couple of hours as I sat in the shade of the Zed Shed! Many thanks Buster, Chris and Kim - for your hard work and hospitality. David Edited July 14, 2013 by Tinyflier

Tinyflier
Today (as well as giving my giving my headlamps a good polishing with Meguirs PlastRx, I used this (it is NOT a carbon foil or vinyl but is actually a thin layer of carbon) on this to give me this! I've tidied up the edges since taking pics to remove the whitish parts and just waiting on my carbon top panel from RSW to finish it off.
