Jetpilot
Seems like a lot of the guys in the usa go down the turbo route, i am pretty set on supercharged as i fancy a change from a turbo. Anyone know why they prefer them, or should i say, they seem more popular, bigger figures achievable etc?
The Chubby Ninja
theres still alot of supercharger installs in the states. im getting the supercharger because ive had the turbo cars and like you fancy a change. you will probably get more torque with the turbo set up. Ive also found that some of the americans run pretty unsafe setups. i seen on an american forum there was a guy running fi at over 500hp on stock injectors and fuel pump! The Chubby Ninja
also a tt setup is more expensive. you can buy cheap single turbo setups but i wouldnt trust them

From my time with rx7's its well discussed that american dyno results are notorious for over reading.
The Chubby Ninja
it would almost seem that the americans were bigheaded
Jetpilot
it would almost seem that the americans were bigheaded Well similar set ups on rx7's over here net about 50+ less hp than comparative usa ones, so, read into that what you will Edited February 10, 2013 by Jetpilot
The Chubby Ninja
Haha. They should be running less aswell because of their crappy fuel
TheMacDaddy
Their fuel is the same as ours, don't be fooled by their lower AKI octane units
OsakaBen
Pretty sure our fuel burns slower with more octane than the Americans, which means we can have a more aggressive map? Without taking j to account Cetane numbers. Could be wrong though
The Chubby Ninja
I thought the higher the octane the better and faster it burns as theres more oxygen in the fuel?
Ekona
Their fuel is the same as ours, don't be fooled by their lower AKI octane units Is correct. Their 87 is our 95, their 91 is our 98. Turbos give you more shove, supercharger a smoother drive. I'd have the latter, but the former does give a massive grin.
4RE Leather
I was chating to a guy with FI from the states and he said our fuel was better then theirs. Who am I to argue! Edited February 10, 2013 by 4RE Leather
WhackyWill
Not seen any mention of a NOS set up for a Zed..I'm sure there a post on here somewhere. ..!
TheMacDaddy
I was chating to a guy with FI from the states and he said our fuel was better then theirs. Who am I to argue! If by better you mean twice the price, then he's right! Nah same stuff, but it may be easier to find 99 RON here (Tesco, Shell etc), as premium is generally 91 AKI which is around 97 RON, so he may be referring to that. I think I'd put up with he slightly lower octane for the price they pay though!

wizard
If you want to keep the zed character and drive, then s/c.... If you want big power, then turbo.... that's pretty much it.
