K370Z2
My 2010 370Z is due it service in another 2000 miles and the 3 year warranty expires on June. I was thinking of taking the car to a local specialist performance service center instead of the local dealer, or I could easily service it my self using better oils filters and all items required for the service rather that OEM parts, keeping a detailed service history & all the receipts for parts. Unless a new Zed is released i can not see me changing the car and it will defiantly be over 5 years old by the time i do change so it probably wouldn't be a good trade in car to a dealership. Just wondered what the thoughts of the Forum
DoogyRev
If it was me I would take it to a reputable performance specialist, it will cost less and you get a stamp in your book Also I would get them to go over it to see if anything that is "warranty" related is wrong, then get that done by them if they can, or just take it to nissan dealer for that work. If you sell privately in 5 years, then you can prove its been correctly looked after and serviced by dealer/decent independent. If your in the SE I have herd good things about Kaizer Motor Company
Dblock
I would keep it up to date with stamps until its out of warranty then do it yourself/take it to a specialist.
spursmaddave
Not sure how many people who really know would turn down a car with a good independant stamp.....
Mark@Abbey m/s
we are just off of the M25 @ Junction 6, carry out a better job than any main dealer , tea/coffee and toast is nice too I hear.
Ebized
Not sure how many people who really know would turn down a car with a good independant stamp..... Far too many Nissan dealers for starters - if a ZED is going to traded in for another car at some point that garage will almost certainly be asking the local Nissan dealer for the trade-in price and if they see/hear the service book does not have Nissan dealer stamps I know from experience that will affect the price. Also. while we know the good independents, non forum types will not know about Abbey ^^^ (as an example) and use that (or any other excuse) to drive down the trade-in price. So I agree with I would keep it up to date with stamps until its out of warranty then do it yourself/take it to a specialist. that's what I did and will do and is it turned out the Nissan HPC where I had my third service done just before the warranty expired agreed with me the gearbox was not right and Nissan agreed a new replacement box, so no hassles of otherwise having to go from an Indy to a Nissan dealer for the gearbox warranty claim. K370Z2
I think everybody's replied the way i think i was going ... That is if the service comes up prior to the expiry of the warranty ill take it ti Nissan if not & after that ill take it to specialist. I am down to Leatherhead on the weekend of the 15th of March so a trip to Abbey Motorsport for a chat about some Mods i am thinking about & perhaps a full car inspection prior to the expiry of the warranty and sample some of their tea & toast. That way they get some money out out of me & i get some free toast & tea - i am a Geordie from Newcastle so ill travel a long way for something for nowt - the toast was for nowt wasnt it !! As always appreciate everybody's feedback.
robski
I've had enough of the Nissan dealerships just for the stamp. I normally take it to the dealer for basic service (P1), even this is steep £193! Just for oils, wash and stamp. Then anything thats been reported I'll do myself, quoted £558 for front wheel bearing. Thats f* crazy! I went in stating that the accessory belt is lose / squeaking and needs tightening (Would do this myself but don't fancing digging around in the snow to do it). It's even in the service log book that as part of the service its checked and if needed tightened... Collected my car in the afternoon and its still lose can hear it a mile away, don't think they even bothered checking any of the bolts or belts. Looking forward to the phone conversation this lunch having a moan... yay... Will be taking my zed to non-dealerships from now on. Rant over! PS13Silvia
The dealer asking you what needs doing, brilliant!
The G Man
The schedule should be P1-P2-P1-P3. Got this initially from ZMANALEX, but since found it in the servicing schedule handbook. Nissan dealers should know this, bit disgraceful if they don't. As an aside, my first P1 was done by the supplying dealership, the next two were carried out by Infiniti, this was more than acceptable to the three dealers I recently contacted re part exchange.
