spursmaddave Posted March 11, 2013 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Everything is staged and played up to the camera, I still watch it and enjoy it but how was last nights and last weeks that much different to the other one when Hammond was driving Oliver or the one with the 4x4s in the rain forrest and up a volcano.... The camerman 'joke' is lame, this has gone the same way as a lot of programmes I used to love (gadget show for example) where the presenters have become the main point of focus.... CrumbMC Posted March 11, 2013 Share Posted March 11, 2013 The africa spcials were quite entertaining but as far as i can remember, the only about 3 reviews in the series, and they weren't very memorable. apart from Hammond's on the Huayra, but that's for the wrong reasons. The best bits in the season were; the supercars in america. quite entertaining, even if a bit staged. I loved the Dog fight part and the cars were nice and exotic. (i don't think it's top gears style, nor does their audience car about reviews of everyday cars these days). I also quite enjoyed the Africa special. again, very staged, especially the stealing bits off each others cars (like you wouldn't notice if you were sleeping in it) but despite that, it was still quite entertaining. TBH these days i get enough decent car review porn on youtube so i think i'm going to stop complaining about TG and just try to enjoy the bits that they are actually good at. For those of you who don't know where to get reviews: make a Youtube account and subscribe to these channels: Drive (Chris Harris on cars is best for new car reviews and some other fun stuff like rallying) EvoTV (channel from the magazine decent reviews 7 (apparent) exclusives) Autocar (lots of 10 second trollup but good reviews in amongst it) Motortrend (best show is ignition - new car reviews, american but still good) CarAndDriver (C&D abroad is the best show with Jethro Bovingdon from evo mag. some of the american guy's shows are good as well) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And i think rather than having the mindset of what a load of crap £1500 cars being smashed on purpose, maybe go hang on look what they have done with the cars they didnt go out and get expensive 4x4 they got some cheap arse cars and had fun together. Like I said it's Last of the Summer Wine with cars instead oc bathtubs & bicycles, 3 old men have an adventure and lots of funny stuff happened... I think the last truly funny and new trip I saw was the camping one a few years back, I laughed my arse off at that... It's good car porn and funny at the same time! if you need some racing to watch you should go watch some of the GT1 races of the last few years on GT1World youtube channel while you wait for motorsport season to get going again. last year the cars were tamed a bit and this year it will be tamer still, manufacturers couldn't afford it but up to and including 2012 the cars are monsters! Also I enjoy the africa or whatever ones as entertainment not for the cars. Although when they break their own cars its funny but when they sabotage each others I personally think its a bit lame and not funny? But we are probably only a small audience.
