steve783
Hi, i just imported a JDM 350Z (Fairlady) and now need some upgrades. I do not live the the US nor UK, live in South America, Brazil, where we are mostly US oriented in terms of parts/tune/upgrades. Only thing i know is that USDM and JDM ecu' s are not compatible therefore eliminating the "US tuning" options, COBB etc. Can anyone please advise what my JDM options are, since we have little or no experience with JDM 350Z's , every tuner here tells you "buy US spec and we can help you......", then again what is different? the ecu and or whole wiring harness? Since the UK does have a lot of imports i hope you can help Here are my primary needs: Speed limit - removal what are the options? HKS SLD? which type do i need? Tune- What are the JDM piggyback and/or tune options? reflash? .... i will be travelling to the UK end of Feb., so maybe i can carry me Ecu with me?? For now, any piggyback option will do. Also i see some folks are using D1 spec throttle controller, which i see i cannot order for my market, looking at the Weapon R option controller. Do you think that will be compatible with JDM ecu? since it's on the US ebay market? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

ianphampton
Go and talk to Abbey Motorsport as the first and primary port-of-call I looked at HKS Defensers to remove the 112mph limiter on my JDM but opted for a remap with Abbey as that leaves open options for Uprev and other tuning options Subsequently fitted plenum spacer and all stainless aftermarket exhaust, and remapped her again to capitalise on the gains - to professional tuners like Abbey they can handle JDM or UK spec vehicles with equal ease - They also fitted my BC coilovers, and lowered the suspension on my roadster

steve783
Have you tried ..... http://www.b2autodesigns.com http://www.z1auto.com Both traders on here, both based in the US. They must have some experience and knowledge of imports Thanks, i am living in South America, and actually i have a lot of experience with US traders/vendors, but practically no or non existing imports of JDM spec 350z vehicles or engines into the US. As an ex-Honda fanatic, it's totally different with Nissan's. Were honda JDM engines, parts en tuning accessories are most wanted in the US. Since VQ35 engines were manufactured in both US (export) spec en JDM, there is little or no info available, since the Americans are tuning only the US spec VQ35DE which is not compatible (ECO, wiring?) to JDM. Hardly any parts are imported or swapped out of Japan in the US, making it hard to find any info on tuning JDM engines. Would carring my ECU be sufficient to do a re-flash? i will be travelling to England end of Feb., on business and would if possible try to get as much as info/parts re-flash? to carry back. Any phone number on Abbey Motorsport. Will be in Lensington? would that be logistically possible ? .....never been to England. Thanks guys for all info till now. DoogyRev
Also I seem to remember chatting to Mark @ Abbey about being able to do a certain amount of tuning/diagnosis remotely
ianphampton
Also I seem to remember chatting to Mark @ Abbey about being able to do a certain amount of tuning/diagnosis remotely If you send him your ECU I think Mark can re-map it and mail it back again - worth PMing him to confirm
