spursmaddave
Just did a speed test 11mb/s only 290 to go!
spursmaddave
If its any consolation I have had to cough up for 2 gigabit switches as the crappy BT router only had one gigabit connection and my place has 4 seperate connections in different rooms.... all sorted now and full bandwith in every room Just in case anyone is not aware you have to be wired to get these speeds as the wireless hardware supplied only goes up to about 40Mb
elfman
we're on a large posh residential estate, round the corner from bt's research centre at martlesham. they have trialled stuff in our area in the past. but obviously not this They only have a hand full of test areas for FTTP until recently it wasn't possible due to the ofcom commitments to always have a working even if the power went off. Smd is a very looking man indeed! In the next year or so fibre should be put into new housing estates though which will be good! I no use to us though haha! spursmaddave
Best get onto his network Dave and use some of his left over bandwidth too Good point I think when I explain he will either go wired or downgrade, no point paying for what you don't use

Fodder
Impressive I must say, I get just below 40Mbs down and 10Mbs up here. However I'm intrigued by the spelling of "fibre".... i'm going to sound like a pedant here but I'm genuinely interested on the correct telecommunications terminology.... i'm bring uber lazy here as I could walk around to the comms team on the other side of the building but i cant be bothered I've always believed the cables are "fiber" all lower case using the american spelling, the only time "Fibre" is used is actually in reference to "Fibre Channel" the protocol so i'm wondering why the service providers brand it as Fibre Optic? I'm looking from a SAN perspective here so dont shoot me down I have a feeling it's purely down to being the British English spelling of a word nothing to do with strands of cable

glrnet
Well, after saying we would have fibre broadband in June last year BT have finally got their act together and we are upgrading on 5th June :yahoo:Nothing quite as good as the warp speeds Smut Mad Dave is getting but I'll take 27.3mb/s as opposed to 3.4mb/s that we get now on a good day.
