Keyser
Don't see it being the button's on the side, I haven't looked at a 350z setup but usually the horn wire in the steering wheel simply creates an earth for the horns. Sometimes there is a plate and a contact ring above it pressing the horn lets the 2 plates touch. Have you got a volt meter? I assume the horn worked on the old wheel so you should be able to see if a second wire needs connecting. Sorry can't be much help as I haven't taken one apart. 4RE Leather
Viagra? It really is a strange one so what I suggest is you still have the old wheel (Swine) which I believe worked. The contact to engage the horn is when you press down the hole of the silver bracket underneath the airbag touches the bottom plate and is resisted by the 2 coil springs like the one that pinged across your hall carpet the other day. It may be that the 3 left hand side configuration you originally had is somehow logged into the memory of the ECU. There is only one solution in your case and that is we reverse everything we did in a bid to find out what is going on. We will start off by sticking your old wheel back and if it works take it from there. Its a matter of getting to mine in decent weather as all the tork keys and stuff are here. Ring me to sort out a time etc. Edited December 30, 2012 by 4RE Leather

It may be that the Green ground wire that goes onto the spade switch on the base plate need not be there? If it was working b4 without wires by putting that on could effect it. Like I said all the equipment is here and if anyone wants to add then please do.

scubapics
The green wire is indeed an ground connection but it is for the horn relay. Thus you have a relay to investigate too. I'll post up the wiring diagram later when I find it.

I'll post up the wiring diagram later when I find it. The wheel thats on there is a OEM swap. He had the 3 button configuration on there b4 but never used it. As you know the wiring comes off the centre plates into a conector and and clips in the loom. The green earth that is also part of the button configuration goes to the small spade switch on the left/ I recon this is the problem as by taking out the 3 button left centre plate and replacing it with a blanking plate there are no wires. hence there is no green wire going to the spade switch. I would say this is almost certainly the problem and one that was overlooked by myself when I changed the wheel and Darral when he fitted it. It needs an earth lol. I will let you explain how to do that one lol Edited December 30, 2012 by 4RE Leather
scubapics
Serves me right for not reading properly! Could he reuse the connector, remove all wires except for the green one and plug it back in? I assume the clock spring is still attached. jumping350
i was thinking that scuba whether i could just unclip the wires for the buttons recconect plug and put spade back on wheel and fire the horn..looks like i will have to take both wheels apart and sort it out that way or if can find some second hand buttons can butcher them instead
scubapics
If you have the original wheel then it is easy to remove the buttons with the cable intact. Plug it in and try it out. If it works, maybe you can cut off all but the horn ground wire and then reuse the connector in your setup.
