Mikesding
Hey guys, Seen that Nissan recommend changing the spark plugs at 50k / 5 years - and i've just reached 5 years old! Is it really recommended? I haven't encountered any problems and to be honest i'm not sure what I would be expecting if they were replaced? Would anything be noticeable? Disadvantages of not changing them? Advantages of changing them? Cheers guys.
ddcboyle
I changed mine few months ago, being standard ones in there since it was made (54 plate) and i aint recognised any differences. Its "slightly" better on starting up but nothing i would have paid for. Your meant to change them every 100,000 miles supposedly. There isnt any harm doing it, but probably not worth your time/money if your nowhere near that.
ZMANALEX
Best to change them at 5 years or 54,000 miles. Nissan do not make that recomendation for nothing. Denso Iridium plugs in stock and good to go same next day. £49.95 for a set of 6. Drop me a pm if I can help you further. scubapics
The electrodes on the plugs will erode over time. You wouldn't want a chunk of an electrode grinding away at your piston bores. Newer improved materials have meant longer periods between replacing them but haven't yet removed the need altogether. The latest technology in spark plugs being researched is laser plugs. Edited December 11, 2012 by scubapics

If so they have come down in price a lot since I last looked!
