Level 7 Boss
I have around 8k to spend on a zed, obviously want to get as much bang for my buck. Checking all the usual places as well as the zeds for sale section. I was just intrigued to find out how much you all paid for your zed and what mileage. Alternatively you can offer me some good car negogiating tips. Go in and tell the salesman your budget, or play coy? Play dealers off each other? dazh
Private sale will normally always be cheaper, all depends on if you need to trade in? I paid £8.5k last October 42k FNSH from a specialist who deals in Porsches, it was a trade in he wanted rid of, but I'm in the trade and paid cash so got a good discount off the original asking price, full valet, tax MOT etc. There are so many variables it's hard to say
370Ad
For 8K i would be expecting an 04-05 GT model in great condition with Rays and possibly sat nav if that floats your boat. Low mileage and a good service history
Aliensurfer
I grabbed a 54 GT with perfect SH, great all round and 47k on the clock for just over £7k. I paid a little over I thought as it was a dealer, but on reflection it was probably about right. No sat nav, but that wasn't important for me. As with everything, it's all about the price you're willing to pay for what you see. I saw some shockers out there before I settled for mine. Don't fall in love with the first one you see! Low mileage and a good service history Where were you when I sold my car? shrug: I got rid of mine for 8k (07 GT) My advice would be no matter where you look offer less than the asking price, and thats where the negation starts. Pick up on anything you spot and if you have one your homework then you should know how much it will cost to fix/repair. Some may cave and some not. Depends on how much you want that car
MrE004
I bought my 06 (not GT) this year for 8k from a dealer but I had a car to part x and got a little over 3k for that. 58k miles. 8months MOT but practically no tax. I was happy as I hadn't found anything that new from a dealer in my price range until that point. Hope this has helped
sparky370z
I sold my 04 GT for 7k. In June. Had a few extras. In a dealer's don't tell them your top budget. And if a private sale take cash.
370Ad
Then again its also down to colour with the Zed. The silver/oranges do tend to be cheaper unfortunately. Also the problem with the 350 is every bloody car is listed as a GT these days.....
L4V15
Buy privately. Mines an 06 300 revup GT full spec, grey. Good condition all round. Leather rays etc. 85000motorway miles. Cash good price. Window was playing up so reset it and its fine. Exhaust needed replacing too but upgraded that anyways. hawker1986
In April we got our '05 UK GT in gunmetal with 31000 for £8.5k. Service history was a bit patchy but its in tidy shape. Probably we paid a bit over the ods for a private sale but it was just up the road and it had obviously been pampered so didn't argue too much about it, so long as you have you're eyes open you should get what you pay for. rtbiscuit
I bought my 06 for £15k back in 2008 and sold it for £12.5k back in 2009
rabbitstew
Depends on which model of zed you are after too. I bought my 2007 313 GT Roadster back in March last year. It was one of only 3 for sale within 100miles of my location and the dealer refused point blank to drop a penny off the full screen price, which was £15995 if i remember correctly. Id already been to look at one of the other cars for sale and that dealer also refused to drop a single penny off the screen price so I had walked away from that sale. I managed to negotiate 6 months road tax (£240 odd) and a full MOT, but that was it. I tried every trick in the book, even starting to walk away etc... which normally works on previous cars ive bought. I had no part-ex and it was a cash purchase. In my case I think it was that the particular car was a very high spec, low mileage example, the dealer knew it was only one of 250 313 Roadsters in the UK and with summer rapidly approaching he knew that he`d be able to sell it no problem. I think for more run of the mill coupe`s you may well be more likely to be able to knock a few quid off as not everyone can afford a big engined, high tax car these days. And with Xmas approaching, the car sales markets are traditionally very much a buyers market at this time of year. I sold the zed and bought a beemer a few months back and managed to get around 10% knocked off the screen price after a lot of hard negotiation. Ekona
I tend to walk in, tell the dealer my budget and pick a car from there. I don't negotiate on the window price, I get stuff thrown in instead or get any nicks and scratches sorted. Fuel and VED are the worst things to negotiate over as there's zero movement on them for the dealer in terms of price, but anything involving their labour is a great way to get VFM. rabbitstew
Fuel and VED are the worst things to negotiate over as there's zero movement on them for the dealer in terms of price, Funnily enough those were the first things bmw offered me when I started haggling! First it was 1/2 tank of diesel, then a full tank, then a years road tax (£110). I think it was because they were trying to tempt me with the things which cost them the less. £50 of fuel & £110 road tax is probably a lot less than having their mechanics spend a few hours retro fitting something to the car. Ekona
How bizarre! See, they've got to pay the techs the same regardless of what they're doing, so if they can keep them busy then it's better for them as it won't cost them anything. VED and fuel is straight out of their pocket though. That's really odd.

I know when I blew up my Ducati a few years back the reason they took 3 months to fix it was because they`d rather their mechanics worked on servicing customers bikes (which they could charge the customer for) than a warranty repair as they couldnt charge out their mechanics time for that. Level 7 Boss
I think I've found 'the one' unfortunately it'sa bit high on the old miles £7k 54k on the clock, 2004, and one previous owner. It seems like it was owned by an enthusiast as the ariel has been replaced by a stubby, there's a alpine head unit that replaces the bose, and there's an ipod connector in the cubby. Only issue is the tyres are mismatched Falken 452's on the rear, and potenza on the front. I do want a facelift, not sure a dealer would drop £500 off the asking price to get to £8.5k and think I'll be crying every time I have to pay VED

DR_EVIL999
I paid £7885 for my GT spec three years ago. 79000 motorway miles and a full Nissan service history.

If the current ones are RE040's then you'll be wanting 4 new tyres. I wouldn't worry about an extra couple of hundred nicker for road tax though, given the running costs of a car like this over a year. Hannahbtw
I paid nearly 11k for my 57plate 313 which had 54000 miles on the clock...probably was "had" a little, as its the non-GT...but it is in the best colour midnight blue! It's worth about 8k now if I was to trade in...so I think they do depreciate hugely..or maybe I'm just unlucky! lol! Good luck finding a good 'un
Leeroy
It's tricky to pin an average price on cars like the 350Z, as there aren't that many about and probably not many that forum members would consider to be in the condition we'd like. I've said before that there are 3 types of buyer for the Zed, these are ; Posers Drivers Mid-life crisis'ers I personally think this varied market messes with values, with each type of buyer prepared to pay different amounts. History is critical for the best price, and there seem to be a few good examples around with low miles for not much money. It amazes me how cheap these cars are now - even on here there are good spec, well looked after 2004 UK GT cars with 50ishK for 6 bags of sand. Truly cheap for what they are, especially considering most have some useful engine / exhaust upgrades - I'm tempted to get another one myself
