Dicky
Anyone know of any testing undertaken to show the effectiveness, or not, of replacing the velocity stack on pre 06 cars.
rtbiscuit
speak to the guys at Abbey, they did do some testing with it. from memory they said it didn;t give big gains, but it did make an improvment to the smoothness of the throttle. it works well as part of a package. i.e. filter, stack and uprev
DoogyRev
I am pretty sure Mark @ Abbey commented on a thread that there is a gain between the pre and post 06 airboxes. They are exactly the same shape and size apart from the post has the velocity stack on it Drop him a PM and I am sure he will be able to verify Edit - Beat me to it Biscuit
glrnet
Certainly noticed a difference in throttle smoothness on my 54 car
Dicky
speak to the guys at Abbey, they did do some testing with it. from memory they said it didn;t give big gains, but it did make an improvment to the smoothness of the throttle. it works well as part of a package. i.e. filter, stack and uprev I've got the k&n panel filter, the Motordyne plenum spacer, and just waiting for my original exhaust to fail (8yrs old now) when I'm going to have a st st exhaust fitted. Then it's UPREV time. Not looking for huge gains more interested in knowing that the engine performance is optimised. I've read about the 06 air box benefits and the kit that you and flyboy manufactured and was just wondering if there performance was proved or not. It would be interesting to tune the car with and without the mod to evaluate it but I suppose that would be expensive. Given the velocity stack kit is relatively cheap it's probably worth just fitting it.
rtbiscuit
i think Abbey motorsport did do this while working on a car; you'd need to speak to them, as i can;t remember the exacts.
