stuarty
To start with I don't really need a car, but like most folk here I love cars, therefore I would never be without a nice one! I work, train and socialise within a mile radius of my home, so everywhere is within walking distance and if its raining, my wife's got a new mini cooper that she also hardly uses so I could use that. Anyway, I woke up today and decided to go for a drive. I bought a new BMW about 6 weeks ago and it's still only got 195 mile on the clock. I thought I would drive to Glasgow for a bit of lunch, which is about 30 mile round trip. I left home and before I reached the motorway (4 mile) I had went through 12 roundabouts and all i did was swerve all over the road avoiding potholes. I was only on the motorway for about 5 minutes when i past one of they mobile speed camera's doing 75 mph overtaking someone driving in the middle lane and I didnt want to undertake them. I got to glasgow and couldnt find a "decent" parking space so I turned and went home, only to drive past another 3 speed camera's and countless potholes. Is it just me, or is the enjoyment slowly getting taking out of driving by the poor roads, speed camera's and roundabouts? Also I always avoid speeding, but it does distract your attention when your constantly watching out for speed camera's incase your briefly a few mph over the speed limit. I'm starting to think is it worth it! Rant over!

rtbiscuit
i find cruise control a huge help, it takes the effort out of maintaining a camera safe speed
stuarty
i find cruise control a huge help, it takes the effort out of maintaining a camera safe speed I agree, but i had to overtake. I was doing about 65 mph, but i had to overtake someone hugging the middle lane. So i was just under 75 mph.
spursmaddave
If you were doing just under 75 you should be fine
Neilp
I know the feeling Stuart ! The roads up our direction are a disgrace! Even my drive to wishaw from N/Hill is a joke. The road through coltness is a joke with cars parked, pot holes etc (saying that they fixed some of it) The full place is a joke and the Road Maintenance people need their balls well and truly booted
Ekona
I feel for them actually, it must be quite irritating having all these people moaning at you but knowing you don't have the budget to do anything about it. Okay, so they could've done more when they did have money, but that's another rant. There is only one group of people to blame for speed cameras, and that's those that speed. If no-one did (or at least did it in place where the authorities couldn't or wouldn't put a camera), then it would cost more to do than they would get in fines so it would be stopped dead. It's as simple as that. Every time you speed on a dull straight bit of road, you're encouraging them to place cameras.
stuarty
Agree Neil. It takes the fun out of driving!
ewan221
Typical BMW drivers always moaning ;-). Seriously the state of the roads in Scotland is a joke and when they repair them they end up in worse state within 6 months
