Supratad
Hi I have the HID type lights and have heard tales of them being self levelling, yet when driving at night on unlit roads, I can safely manage only 40mph on dipped beam. It simply does not light further than 50 yards up the road. Can I manually adjust them and raise them up a bit?
spursmaddave
Is your car lowered?
Dblock
There is some bolts that you can adjust with a 8 or 10mm spanner.
Supratad
Cars not lowered, as far as a i know. It looks normal. It would have to be lowered at front end more than rear though to have such a short beam spread. If the lights can be adjusted thats great, I can do the garage door set-up. I presumed with self levellers there was no such option.
rtbiscuit
the self levellers only keep the beam pointing to a specific point. they drop over time for some reason on the zed, so occasionally need them adjusting back to normal. but to be fair the lights even when right are pretty crap on the zed as standard. the later bixenons were better, but compared to other cars they aren;t the best. leonk
Remove the front wheel arch liners and as said above adjusters are located on back of the lights,
Wasso
I think I'm gonna have to do the same. Jez at Horsham said with my rear ARB on hard it's going to affect the auto leveller at the back. It sure has that's for sure!
rtbiscuit
you could also adjust them without taking the arch out. you could reach an adjust from the top of the light. but that may have just been the pre facelift.
Supratad
Ooh I hope so. I don't mind a bit of spannering but stripping out the arches just to adjust lights is an awkward job. Blooming car designers. Thanks for the pics, they will be a big help.
Wasso
I was actually reading up on the adjusting from inside the bay with what I believe to be a 8"screw driver? I was going to do it but if its ore face lift its wheel arch liner bending time. What will it take each side five mins.
Supratad
It takes me 5 mins to open the garage door
BulletMagnet
Look here for headlight adjustment, did mine this way and it's a lot better than when I first got the car http://www.350z-tech.com/wiki/index.php?title=Headlight_Adjustment
Wasso
That's what I found, I'm guessing the same adjustment 'should' be found for the bi-xenons?
BulletMagnet
According to zmanalex, the adjustment is identical for both pre & post facelift The pre facelift and the Bi Xenon adjustment procedure is the same. There are two little toothed wheels on the rear of the lamp that you can reach with a screwdriver from under the bonnet.
Dblock
I need to adjust mine too they are bloody terrible sometimes.
Supratad
That link must be post facelift then. I adjusted my lights earlier and the toothed wheel is very accessible from the engine bay. Just a normal phillips screwdriver will reach easily. I can see clearly now, I can see all obstacles in my way. Clearly someone at Nissan noticed that home maintenance of this item was easy and thought "Right, put a stop to THAT. Let's make it much, much harder"
Neilp
I have the facelift and have an adjuster at the top also

Supratad
I don't know why people were removing their wheels and arch liners. It must be galling to then realise it could be easily adjusted.
scubapics
Here you go mate, guide I wrote last year http://www.350z-uk.c...your-headlights That's got to be the filthiest engine bay I have ever seen on a Z!
