Sarnie
My zed is currently on a jack having my Ferodo DS2500's fitted (By my old man!). Just wondering what the correct bedding in procedure is? PS My calipers are filthy PPS Cheers Bigphil
Removed
take it easy for the first couple of hundreds miles. the pads will need some time to adjust to the disks
Trev-the-Rev
The idea is to get heat into them gradualy. I normally drive down the road and do a few light applications of the brake pedal, then ride the pedal with my left foot while still accelerating for about 30 secs, and finally a couple of hard applications. Sarnie
I'm sure I saw on here a specific procedure? Eg 5 60mph to 0 mph or summat like that?
Removed
might well change from pad to pad then, my new redstuffs just mentioned to take it easy for the first 200 miles to let the pad bed in, tbh. didn't they come with any literature anway? Trev-the-Rev
If you brake too hard too soon you will run the risk of glazing them and ultimately reducing their efficiency.

sl114
I usually just bed them in for 100 miles with no hard breaking for the first 50 due to glazing.
bigphil
By far the best method for beeding in the DS2500 pads is as follows:- Nice clear stretch of road. Take the car up to 60-70mph and brake firmly down to 30mph. repeat 5 or 6 times and then drive gently to allow everything to cool down just for a couple of mins. At no point during this operation come to a halt with your foot on the brake pedal. Sarnie got a special deal as a thank you for his introduction to this site.
