spursmaddave
Anymore zedders reviews on this - likely t be far more rewarding to read than the general 'tinternet reviews of "great" / "awfull" etc I am using the old style desktop whoch is part of windows 8, the actual 'new' tablet type desktop is ok, some apps are ok some are total crap.... It is much quicker and reliable than previous builds which is the main thing, boots up and shuts down very quick better than win 7 ? past history of microsoft (without fail) has been good - bad - good - bad etc etc Good as in quick and seems to run everything I want it too, bad as in the tablet / app interface is absolute complete and utter cack for a desktop machine, luckily you can tab to the standard desktop and all is pretty much well in the world
neo
have a look at - http://www.classicshell.net/ gives windows 8 it's start button back on the desktop plus it can auto boot straight to the desktop instead of the metro UI ( it does other things as well) agreed windows 8 suits tablets/touch screens much better. rtbiscuit
Win 8 hasn't effected any of my software, no need to reinstall software, 7 is still there its just the new home page laid over the desktop. My desktop stayed the same. Don't mind it on the pc, but it comes into its own on my tablet pc. On my surface I never use the desktop, I do it all on the app screen. Settings and control panel are all still there you just pull up the hidden tool menu on the right, and go to settings. Or use the search function. JetSet
Just replaced our broken Laptop for a Compaq with Win 8 Pro. I was never a fan of either Vista or Win 7 and this is no different. I will concede though that it is lightning fast though. Pete
