350SX
Morning all, My JDM 350 (03 model) was taken for MoT yesterday and failed on emissions. I'm away for a while so asked the guy who took it for me to check on a few things, but was wondering if there are suggestions from the floor as to what it could be so it can be retested with the minimum of fuss? He has no diagnostic tools so cannot delve into it that way. He said the air filter was in a terrible state and that the oil was filthy, so changed those to no avail. I have suggested cleaning the AFM and checking the air intake for blockages, check O2 sensors and wiring and have a general look over, but if there are any other common faults on the 350's that anyone knows about, suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks
Ekona
What part of the emissions failed? Check for exhaust leaks.
350SX
No sure if I'm honest as I didn't ask specifics. I'm about 4000 miles away from home and calls are fairly short
rothers2901
without further information it's hard to make any suggestions. It could be numerous things.
MITZ@CougarStore
Do you have the Nissan OEM system fitted, common fail area is the join between the rear silencer and the midpipe, so worth checking this area too...
ZMANALEX
More info required, however if the car was not up to temperature then perhaps that may be the issue. Get the cats really hot and try again. Alex
rtbiscuit
my guess would be leaking exhaust or cats not up to temp. if it is a carbon build up get the car taken to a terraclean vendor. works wonders on old cars.
350SX
It's a stock exhaust system. The car hadn't been run for any length of time in quite a while, so may well need a good run to get the cats up to temperature. Thanks for the suggestions, they are much appreciated.
