350SX
A dramatic improvement between when you got it and how it looks now. Mine is a silver/grey one too and I am considering having black wheels on it now after having seen your results. Good work.

Vlad
another update Last few weeks were pretty busy for me...where do I start? lol Ordered some carbon wrap to, originally, wrap my door handles, but then decided against it after reading on here - that it will peel off pretty quick . so wrapped window switches plastics instead ^^ check out cool hair dryer fitted Then had few bits delivered: ^^ De-Cats Y-pipe Plenum spacer Carbon bits for the engine bay (engine cover, battery&fluids covers, coolant panel, air intake tube, bonnet gas struts) New Strut bar Grounding kit (made it myself, pics below) Upgraded HID bulbs Reverse camera New stick on number plate (put old one slightly wonky, but new one is wrong as last 2 letters wrong way around, so need to re-order) Velocity stack Mishimoto coolant hoses New nismo badge in black And all service stuff: Grooved/Drilled front&rear discs with brembo pads HEL Braided brake lines Denso iridium spark plugs HKS hybrid upgraded panel filter And not in the pic: Engine oil/oil filter Gearbox oil + molyslip Diff oil Brke fluid Clutch fluid Coolant So... was bored one night so decided to make a grounding kit. Ordered all bits from ebay and off we go and finished product:) Then replaced areal with RDX(or whatever its called lol) one before after Rear,silver/chrome,nismo badge taken off to be replaced with new, black, one didnt take "after" pic, but there's one below (during remap) Then it was time to start sotrting out engine bay Firsty, stripped everything I was gonna change/clean/upgrade And my living room turned into work shop Before fitting anything back in, decided to clean/polish plenum cover. Before Progress 1st - blast all major crap off with wire brush (Yes, we are cool kids... safety 1st - so 3D glasses came handy ) after we finished with wire brushing Then it was time for sanding it...going from 80grit to finer 2000grit, doing few dry and few wet sands for every type ^^compared to untouched throttle body And then polish it with few different compounds/wax/polish Qute happy with end result. Thanks a lot to Wasso for the tips. Didnt come out as good as yours as I was runing out of time...even tho I allowed my self whole week to do it... lol i guess will take it off and do it again when i get more time Then gave throttle body a quick clean as well, didnt really fancy to mess around it with it Edited March 15, 2013 by Vlad
Vlad
Next thing was air intake. Kept original system, but fitted carbon fibre intake tube and velocity stack + HKS upgraded panel filter Took whole thing apart, degreased it and gave it a good wash and claenned MAF sensor with some contact cleaner. Velocity stack before after & filter and re-assembled with C/f tube Then it was time to start putting everything back together incl new bits. Gas Struts Fitted plenum spacer (Thanks to Wasso agan ) Fitted plenum cover, grounding kit and air intake New silicone hoses and strut bar Engine cover, slam panel/coolant cover/ battery & fluid covers are on New brakes on Spark plugs changed All other fluids/oils got changed as well. So absolutely everything in the car nice, fresh and clean now and runs sooo much nicer and smoother now. Then rear carbon fibre diffuser arived from US and A
Vlad
Then it was time for a remap @ Abbey Motorsport. ^^ new nismo badge couple of videos Rattle in the vid is from sensors vibrating in tail pipes After remap its running 274 at hubs Car drives so much nicer after it! Then i decided i didn't like new nismo badge,so took it off, along with "350z" badge. Replaced rear Nissan badge with a black one Then fitted reverse camera and hooked it up to my HU Someone mentionned it on here, so bought one of them cameras that replace one of number plate lights (but still has a compartment for the light). barely visible Short shifter fitted Not shown, but de-cats and new y-pipe were fitted as well, prior remapping. Can relax now as full service been done(done it myself after reading about bad experiences with garages/dealerships) and most of the bits a had planned are done as well! Wasso
Wow that's one hell of a shopping trip. Good numbers on the dyno too. The plenum looks good, okay it needs the finishing touch, but as we discussed its not a 10 min job. I've not tried this yet, but get hold of a carnauba wax and seal the plenum. Keep on top of cleaning it as it WILL oxidise. Cleaning and periodic polishing will keep it looking good and if you're polishing again it'll look even nicer. Vlad
Thanks matey what shall i clean it with? Fitted it 2 weeks ago, cleanned car twice or 3 times since and every time gave it a quick wipe and polish...
kris
I kept on top of mine with the Megs metal polish. It seemed to leave a better protective coat than autosol did. Wasso that sounds like a good idea, a good carnuba should work a treat. Edited March 15, 2013 by kris
Vlad
Oh wicked! Just got some auto glym metal polish earlier
Vlad
Can't it be sprayed with some high temp clear lacquire? To keep it from oxidising? Just an idea lol

MattyV6
Looking great mate Do you still have your old 350Z badge lying around? I'm after one as the Z is broken on mine PM me if you have it
Wasso
I'm not a fan of any metal polish on the plenum, it makes it dull down in comparison to metal compound polishing. You could lacquer the plenum, but for me it again takes the edge off the shine. For an easy life lacquer the plenum, or if you want the shine to stand out leave it bare and maintain with cleaning. I use a speed detailer to clean the plenum and any other polished parts. Every 6 months I take mine off and give it a fresh compound polish to keep it looking good. The wax should keep it looking cleaner for longer. I've been reading up on a number of ways to maintain the plenum, and the Carnauba wax treatment seems to come up trumps. Plummerman
Mate big on the car, She looks lovely, but I feel your pain with parkway.. I bought a Alfa 147GTA off them that nearly killed me.. Brake lines shot out at 70 (ok maybe a bit more ) got wheeled into a Alfa specialist in Luton by the AA.. They refused to let the car back on the road.. Been front end smashed, all the bodywork underneath had been plated and welded up etc etc etc. basically should have been cat D and they farmed it out.. Grrr.. Long story short, trading standards were involved and a lot of wrangling later I landed in a Zed Happy days.. Glad you've got it sorted now
Vlad
Oh no way! That's bad! I wish I had trading standards on them while I had all the evidence that car was dangerous to drive with that massive fuel leak:( But hey ho, all sorted now! And in your case you came out unhurt and with Zed:)
Plummerman
Shitster.. Specially the charmer from edwinstowe who lives at Lincoln... You see the Astons and lambo's and you think ok this place is decent.. Look at the cars they have.. Shiny car syndrome as my mate calls it!! They were already under investigation when I complained, so very surprised its still open But yep, love the Zed.. She bleeds me in a good way. Lol
