another update :)

Last few weeks were pretty busy for me...where do I start? lol

Ordered some carbon wrap to, originally, wrap my door handles, but then decided against it after reading on here - that it will peel off pretty quick . so wrapped window switches plastics instead :)

after we finished with wire brushing

photo_zps03617366.jpg

Then it was time for sanding it...going from 80grit to finer 2000grit, doing few dry and few wet sands for every type

photo_zps3e59dc0d.jpg

photo_zps6937a95b.jpg

^^compared to untouched throttle body

Qute happy with end result. Thanks a lot to Wasso for the tips. Didnt come out as good as yours as I was runing out of time...even tho I allowed my self whole week to do it... lol i guess will take it off and do it again when i get more time

Then gave throttle body a quick clean as well, didnt really fancy to mess around it with it

Wow that's one hell of a shopping trip. Good numbers on the dyno too.

The plenum looks good, okay it needs the finishing touch, but as we discussed its not a 10 min job.

I've not tried this yet, but get hold of a carnauba wax and seal the plenum. Keep on top of cleaning it as it WILL oxidise. Cleaning and periodic polishing will keep it looking good and if you're polishing again it'll look even nicer.

I kept on top of mine with the Megs metal polish. It seemed to leave a better protective coat than autosol did.

Wasso that sounds like a good idea, a good carnuba should work a treat.

I'm not a fan of any metal polish on the plenum, it makes it dull down in comparison to metal compound polishing.

You could lacquer the plenum, but for me it again takes the edge off the shine. For an easy life lacquer the plenum, or if you want the shine to stand out leave it bare and maintain with cleaning.

I use a speed detailer to clean the plenum and any other polished parts. Every 6 months I take mine off and give it a fresh compound polish to keep it looking good.

The wax should keep it looking cleaner for longer. I've been reading up on a number of ways to maintain the plenum, and the Carnauba wax treatment seems to come up trumps.

Mate big  on the car,

She looks lovely, but I feel your pain with parkway.. I bought a Alfa 147GTA off them that nearly killed me.. Brake lines shot out at 70 (ok maybe a bit more ;) ) got wheeled into a Alfa specialist in Luton by the AA.. They refused to let the car back on the road.. Been front end smashed, all the bodywork underneath had been plated and welded up etc etc etc. basically should have been cat D and they farmed it out.. Grrr.. Long story short, trading standards were involved and a lot of wrangling later I landed in a Zed :) Happy days.. Glad you've got it sorted now

Oh no way! That's bad! I wish I had trading standards on them while I had all the evidence that car was dangerous to drive with that massive fuel leak:(

But hey ho, all sorted now! And in your case you came out unhurt and with Zed:)

Shitster.. Specially the charmer from edwinstowe who lives at Lincoln... You see the Astons and lambo's and you think ok this place is decent.. Look at the cars they have.. Shiny car syndrome as my mate calls it!! :)

They were already under investigation when I complained, so very surprised its still open

But yep, love the Zed.. She bleeds me in a good way. Lol
