Stew
Anyone with anything cool is a total liar. Everyone knows that all first music purchases are rubbish! The first one I remember buying was The Housemartins - Caravan of Love Awful really but at least they are classed as 'Indie' and Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) was a member of the band! My Dad bought "My old man's a dustman" at the same time - Lonnie Donegan That's what sounds strange now ... not every kid had access to a record player in those post war days ... I was 14 before I could afford a tape recorder, bought with money earned on my paper round ... it cost £14 and I was earning at the rate of 5 shillings a week ... so a full year's wages
