K20CPM
Hey guys. I just bought a nismo gearknob from a chap on the site and he said the original one just unscrews but it is absolutely solid. Just needing some conformation that this info is true. Or do I need some bigger muscle lol
DannyBoy
Stop trying to unscrew it now before you damage anything. You need to take off the gear surround trim and clamp the gear stick (the actual stick) with some molegrips and hold onto them so you don't twist the stick off inside the box or something. The knob does unscrew, but it's really on there so another set of grips on the knob (protect it if you want to keep it) is a good idea. samsniss350z
Either mine had been off before or it had never been really tight when it came out of the factory as it loosened with less torque than that needed to open a jar of jam. I think it must have been the former as it was a horrible ropey looking thing, OEM, but just scabby. I totally agree with Dannyboy though, it would need clamping at the base of the shaft, there is a link somewhere with a pictorial showing you the best way to go about this but i haven't a clue of its whereabouts.
