Commander
Part mod, part maintenance last weekend... Swapped out the plugs, which look like the originals, but it's only just ticked 70k so that's to be expected... Old and new side-by-side... Upgraded the standard Cats for hi-flows... they make a lovely noise around 2k-4k RPM when accelerating, but when cruising on the motorway I can barely hear them, which is exactly what I was after. Everything went to plan, but the higher flow on the HFCs seems to have upset the ECU and it's now a bit lumpy and/or hesitant on occasion, so it's booked in to see Jez at H-Dev for an UpRev in a week or two's time.
GMballistic
Good work Commander. Jez will sort it out. After fitting of my HFC's the drive was ok but it did throw up the EML ~ all sorted now though after a visit to Horsham back in February. Netnomad
Fitted new gaitor and gear knob. Really struggled to get the old knob off. The gear change is now a lot slicker.

Ceejay29
Late evening at the garage tonight, gave the car the once over as it has been sat for a while and quickly fitted the Cobra Y-Pipe courtesy of CS. Went on a doddle Also had a look at the work involved fitting headers, my old man was surprisingly positive claiming it should be pretty easy; he looked at me as if I had lost the plot when I mention 4 hours labour. I will remind him of this when we take the plunge. Seems to think the clutch will take under an hour too?! Maybe this is why he was in a good mood.... working on his project. Also had a sweet mini hiding under a cover. Both make the gunmetal zed seem so dull!
GMballistic
I can see why you think the old Escort MK1 might make the Zed seem a little dull Ceejay29 but the Mini?? come on, really? Not a fan of the Mini at all and don't see what all the fuss about them is. Anyway... Each to their own and glad the Cobra went on ok.

Tinyflier
What happens when they corrode in and the screw head gets warn "... worn..." I've had flush fit valves on many cars for a long time and never had any problems with the cap corroding on. The ones I have on my Zed (for over a year now) overcome any potential corrosion though by having plastic caps.

GMballistic
^^ Very nice Buster. Is that a Stillen air box copy or something home made? Shape of it is identical to my Stillen one.
