ThriftyFifty
My Zed has an Alpine INE-S900R installed, and it looks great. However when using the radio the signal is terrible, constant cutting in/out and hissing. The GPS however is working great... Does anyone know what could be causing this? I only got the ZED on Friday, and it was installed at an audio shop "professionally" is there anything they could have missed? The previous owner had this in for 2 years, I'm guessing he just lived with it. Rear aerial is a full length, not a stubby.
glrnet
Assuming the volume on other functions is fine then the first place to look is the antenna connection a the rear of the unit, it's quite easy to dislodge this when putting the head unit back into the dash
ThriftyFifty
I'm guessing this means removing all the trim? Volume is indeed fine normally, CD's sound great etc. The connector sounds like a good place to start.

I'm afraid so, but here you go:- viewtopic.php?f=35&t=47176
ThriftyFifty
Mine still has the OEM Nissan screen in the cubby, will it be much different than the methods posted there? Mine is also an automatic.
neilvr
Is it a JDM? I had a similar issue when replacing the headunit...if the Jap sat nav is still connected it seems to interfere with the aerial reception. I just unplugged the DVD unit behind the seat. Well it's a JDM but it had UK Nissan Sat nav... but I know the old CD player is in there, could well be connected and is a 5 minute solution as opposed to undressing her. Shall let you know how I get on! I also notice the microphones in the car for some reason are not picking me up clearly when I'm doing hands free... I wonder how much it would cost to bring it to an audio installer to check it over? Failing that I'll tear off her face and give some plastic surgery
ThriftyFifty
Tried disconnecting the old CD player, it was indeed connected. Removed one at a time, and got no improvement on signal. My guess is the install was not done right, looking at the configuration settings of the headunit, it says Speed Pulse is not turned on... which it should be to my knowledge. Compound that with the aerial problem, and the fact the microphone doesn't work I'm inclined to say a poor install. Anyone know places in Surrey that do car audio and won't hurt me financially for what is a minor problem?
dErZ
Mate, I can help remove your trim. I did the Bose hack the other day
Dblock
might be worth checking for breaks in the aerial wire.
spursmaddave
My radio reception is rubbish at the moment I just listen to the iPod now anyway too much waffle and forced humour on the radio, and then doom and gloom every half an hour on the news
