What gives the best gains and what gives the best noise? Thanks in advance
rtbiscuit
Panel or induction kit.?
Patch
Which ever gives the best power/noise
Dblock
Which ever gives the best power/noise 2 different things there. Pop charger for noise but generally panel filters are supposed to be best for gains, although more flow means less filtration.
Patch
So an enclosed panel filter gives better gains than a cone type filter? Ne to this N/A tuning.

Patch
I read that a K&N induction kit gives between 8-10bhp,is that even possible?
Ricey
I read that a K&N induction kit gives between 8-10bhp,is that even possible? Was it max power that you read that in? No. No And double no You will be lucky to see anything more than 1 or 2 brake from a velocity stack and decent panel filter (k&n). Induction kit will give you immense noise but probably power loss because of heat soak.

Ricey
Listen phil (as you shall be known from this day forth).....if you can get a 10 bhp increase from a CAI I'll personally administer oral relief for you. In fact if you put one on and DON'T end up with a flat spot in the acceleration I'll be impressed. Noise is amazing though......best bet is a JWT popcharger
Dblock
Whats your real name patch. Are you phil? Phil, who the F is Phil? Ermm As Ricey said. But with a cotton/foam filter it can be washed and reused rather than just binning so it can save you money in the long run ( depending how much an air filter is )

sparky370z
Do you want just a panel filter to replace the OEM one? Or a whole induction kit? Panel filter will be better for gains, as there is no heat soak from the engine. But requires remap. Induction, such as a jwt popcharger. Will sound awesome but would actually reduce power (very small) due to heat soak through the engine bay. I had a popcharger on mine and was very happy with it. Patch
A panel filter requires a remap?
sparky370z
It will require a remap to see any gains. As with any mod. As the ecu self levels to the standard BHP. But its just a direct replacement, pull out the old one put in the new one. Simples
smudgedon
Surely an enclosed indication kit with cold air feed is the best of both worlds?
Patch
My Invidia duel exhaust turned up the other day,so looking to see which filter will be best before it goes off to be mapped. How does the ecu work on these things, granted to make the most out of the mods it needs mapping to suit, but surely if you improve airflow in and out it will gain something? Ricey
Surely an enclosed indication kit with cold air feed is the best of both worlds? Provided you can duct it up properly it should work better but you prob need to fit a nostril or some flexipipe.
