ChristopherJames
Hi Guys, I have just finished painting the roof lining from the Zed and the next step is to paint the plastics that are part of the roof lining. Im having trouble removing the centre housing that holds the light, the glasses holder and the mic from the hands free as its all held in place from behind with metal circular clips that push onto plastic rods from this centre plastic sections. I was wondering if anyone had managed to remove these and is so how. Chris
glrnet
SMD took his off when he replaced his headlining, he's on holiday but drop him a PM anyway you might get lucky, filing that I'm sure someone else who knows will turn up soon

ChristopherJames
Thanks glrnet hopefully someone can come to my aid. SMD should not be allowed away from this forum incase I need him! Yes it's like some sort of rivot I guess. It's realy frustrating that such a small thing makes this such a hard job.
jables
Just done my headliner and plastics. I had to break most of the rivets off; they're damn near impossible to remove without snapping. I think I saved maybe 2 out of 7. I applied a little superglue around the edge, but you might not even need that. The 2 clips on the back of the sunglasses holder hold this entire piece in place and gravity ensures the headlining hangs off the plastic. The only reason I superglued it was to stop the two separating if someone pushes up on just the headlining. Same goes for the microphone that sits next to this. jables
Yeah, it's not meant to come off but you haven't got a choice if you wanna spray it properly. With a lot more patience than me you might be able to slowly pry most of the rivets off. It was a much bigger job than I anticipated as I wanted an OEM finish, but damn does it look good . Such an improvement over the nasty light grey.
ChristopherJames
I had to do the same in the end. I got impatient whilst waiting for a reply and just broke them off :-s I have everything painted and ready to go back in once I have had a couple of dents removed from the roof. I cant wait to see it back in the car as it looks so much better than it did in grey.
