Ekona
Or PC Specialist. Get an i5, then as much RAM and as good a gfx card as you can afford. That'll do you for now.
BulletMagnet
As above, my current rig is i5 based with 16GB of RAM and an older 470GTX

rtbiscuit
is there due to be a new replacment for the i3 i5 and i7 stuff in the near future or are they here for a while? has comp tech slowed down? I know the new sand whatever thingys were and are a huge leap in tech, my guess is they are fairly future proof.
MrBenB
Depends what you're plugging it into - is it a 1080P/Full HD monitor? A Core i5 is good enough for nearly everything nowadays unless you're into serious gaming sessions. As already said go for the best GFX card you can, best price/perf is currently a GTX 670 but if you need to save some cash then a GTX660 is great for full HD gaming. PC Specialist and Scan get my vote for systems
Ewan27
An Apple will cost you 40% more for a comparable spec machine and still way behind on gaming software. Give me your budget and I'll link you to some options.
Dblock
IMO I would get a SSD HDD as they are great.

Prob looking to spend £600/700 ish certainly not looking for hard core gaming machine but something that'd at least meet the min specs for the latest games. If you don't know, Intel work on a yearly tick tock cycle where for one tick they shrink the hardware whilst on a tock they improve performance. Ivybridge is just a shrinking of sandybridge, so the next development cycle should be the one to improve performance again.

ewan221
No already have a good monitor. So only looking for the computer its self. Lol things have changed I remember paying £1200 for a pentium 60 many years ago
Ekona
£700 isn't a big budget for a gaming PC. It's not peanuts either, before I get accused of that!
Gudzy
I just put together a PC with an i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, SSD and a license of Windows 7 pro for less than £500, so you should definately get something decent for that kind of budget, but that was without a graphics card because it was for an office. Personally I've moved away from PC gaming as you've got to upgrade too often to play the latest games.
Ewan27
DinoPC.com are pretty good. For your requirements and budget I'd recommend their Mass Effect i5 3450 (geth3450) customised like below. Customizations: CPU: 2083x - NEW! Intel Core i5 3450 Operating System: 11014x - Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Motherboard: 4139 - NEW! Asus P8Z77-V LX RAM: 5040 - 16GB DDR3 1333mhz (4x 4GB) Hard Drive: 6029 - 2TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s Optical Drive: 7003x - 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA Graphics card: 8086x - NEW! NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 1GB Sound card: 10001x - Onboard 7.1 Audio Case: 17024x - Xigmatek Asgard PSU: 18039 - NEW! 600W Xigmatek Warranty: sc-1 - 3 Year SureCare Warranty The hard drive up to 2TB might be a bit excessive, it comes with a 500GB as standard. Definitely go up to 8GB RAM, 16GB Isn't much more and I'd say worth it. PSU is also important. This rig will be capable of playing the latest games, but not at max settings. Flex
IMO I would get a SSD HDD as they are great. + 1, boot up and load time on everything on my lappy takes about a third of the time. Solid state all the way baby!!
