4RE Leather
Did you know that Petrol prices came within 3p of a UK record high over the weekend, yet the price of a barrel of oil has been dropping almost constantly for the last 2 years? I need a good old RANT!!

4RE Leather
But why do we put up with it. What happened to the good old British Bulldog Spirit. Stick ya hand up and be counted! Or are we a nation full of illegals who don't want to draw attention to themselves. Bla Bla Bla
rtbiscuit
and what are we supposed to do? no one has a decent plan to fight back, thing is we all need fuel and we're a slave to it, and the fuel companies and government know this. and since the last fuel strikes they've changed the law to stop that happening again. 4RE Leather
I do keep up with fair fuel campaign and lobby Mp's through them. It does help and stopped the last rise. I know it's not hard core but the more names the louder the Voice. My runaround has stickers all over it!

4RE Leather
Annoy them enough and they can only go in one direction swamp them in paperwork! I sign all the online partitions and every 3-4 months start a new one myself. 100,000 gets a hearing and it doesn't take long to fill it up. We do need some more voices. Sad that very few if any of the car clubs have signed up. I am sure if all the individual club members across all cars were to sign it would overwhelm them. Problem is we live in Culture of if he ain't doing it neither am I. Never in France. It said on 5th gear the other night that the cheapest price for a litre of fuel is in a South American country. Puru or Equador. 2p a litre!!!!!

Chris`I
Its only 75p here ....... I will be off now Fancy sending us a container full? FairFuel campaign just shows how much power the government have over us. They claim they got them to put off the next raise - whoop de do - we dont need them to stall, we need it lowering. The basic facts are the government/country are in massive debt and fuel is an easy way to pay for it. Doesnt matter what oil prices do, they will continue to hit us for it as they know its a good revenue stream. Enjoy it now while you can before we get priced out of it and then the oil dries up
bronzee
We had a record high over here a few weeks ago, and it's still hovering around the same level, having only come back a few cents a litre. Funny thing, over here when the price of petrol goes up, people stop driving as much, so the price drops back a bit again. Still extortionately expensive at NZ$2.40 a litre, so that's about 1.10 quid a litre. Its only 75p here ....... I will be off now Send me over a container load please, and I don't mean a litre. Ekona
I'd rather pay more for my fuel if it meant less people on the roads. Doesn't work like that over here, sadly.

Chris`I
I've just given up on getting cheaper fuel, its not going to happen. Been on the FairFuel campaign since the start and the only difference they've ever made is claiming that they got the government to put off a hike in tax ONCE in many rises that I can remember. Thats in a a good few years of campaigning. Simple economics says we are happy to pay for higher fuel prices, and until people seriously stop going to the pumps then they will continue to rape up for tax. But we're not going to see everyone suddenly stop going to the pumps. Thats the reality unfortunately

rtbiscuit
I blame the Conservitive voters living in the Green Belt!!! I blame the last party for the debt we're now paying off, and their fake green policy which was just away to cream more taxes. To be fair I don't like any of the politicians. Everything they do is for the short term as they are always promoting for the next term in office. They all just tamper with things than actually fix them. Everything they do is for the short term as they are always promoting for the next term in office. They all just tamper with things than actually fix them. Can't trust politicians. They're only in it for themselves. It's all very well blaming the politicians, but let's not forget who put them there. We've created huge incentive for short term problem-patching by the majority voting only for what will get THEM the best deal in the short term, not the country but them individually. This has lead to Party manifestos being adorned with unrealistic and unsustainable vote-winning policies that get watered down before being put into action and then scrapped completely half way through when the next Government takes over. How can we expect anything lasting to happen when this is the case? I think this sort of thread is a good example of that natural (and understandable) 'me first' mentality. I mean no offence to anyone on here when I say this (we're all entitled to our opinions and the odd rant) but it does seem a rather short-sighted argument. So the goverment reduces fuel tax, then what? well they either have to do without that (rather substantial) source of revenue in a global recession/budget deficit, or they have to recoup the loss by taxing something else instead. It sucks that we all have to pay so much to run our nice sports cars, but the country is still in massive budgetary deficit, and regardless of who's fault it is don't you think that's a bit more serious than annoyingly high petrol costs? I totally understand the anger here, and I'm not condemning anyone at all, just saying that maybe taken in perspective, it aint such a bad thing. rtbiscuit
i voted for them as i thought they were our best bet at getting out of the mess, and i still stand by it. I've not grumbled at my pay freeze or my pension cuts, i don't like it but i understand why it needs to be done. i think road tax should be scrapped, and toll roads brought in. Green taxes should not be payed on the size of an engine but the amount they produce due to mileage. there is a lot to be said for dictatorships, when the party doesn;t change for 20 years or more it gives you the time to do those long term plans. not all dictators were bad, castro did a lot of good as did tito.
