Will370z
On our last day in dorset we drove down forone last look from hardys monument. There was an amazing view of the stars and the milky way. Can honestly say ive never seen so many stars. Was an amazing view. We decided to try and take one shot of the zed with the milky way as a back drop. Heres one of the shots, came out rather well. Hope you like. Was a fantastic way to end the holiday

ChrisS
Nice shot Will. You need to spend more time in Wales, always clear at night so lots of stars.
Ebized
Ought to have got roof up with all that snow coming down, but seeing the smoke behind the car - good to see you got a bonfire going to keep warm. But I agree it does look quite like a very starry sky

Will370z
Nice one Will..... Now, not sure if you recall the current calendar and the Azure at night with the light glow, imagine that same shot with the light glow around your car. Oooooooooooooooooooooooh That would be awesome. We did a 30s exposure and did try to paint the car with a torch, this photo was one of the subtle ones. Will look through the others when they arrive and see how they came out. Taffyjason- we were aiming south / south east as the milky way lined up with centre of the car so it looked like it was appearing through the roof. Never seen the milky way that extensively before. You could see it from one horizon up and over to the opposite horizon, so impressive.

Well, I'm not skilful enough to do a shot like this! I just wanted to see if I could pull out more detail in the car and see what it looked like without the blue tinge on the whites
elfman
Brilliant photo, makes you appreciate where you are and how insignificant everyday problems are in the grand scheme of things.
sipar69
Fab picture. Love looking at the stars - makes you realise what a tiny, tiny insignificant speck we are in the Universe!
Will370z
Lovely shot Will, where were you staying in Dorset? We were near martinstown in a cottage about 1/2 a mile north of hardys monument. Was great. And yes the stars really did make you realise how tiny and insignificant out little planet it. CrumbMC
I was camping in t' duddon valley last weekend and the sky was amazing at night. My mate who studied astronomy pointed this out. We were walking back from the pub at the time so reaction was one of drunken amazement I had never noticed it before but it does look really cool, Especially with a Z in front.
