rabster
OK so following on from a simple re gass problem i have had an aircon specialist look at the car today whilst it was at my trusted garage for an MOT which it passed lol he has said the compressor works and the clutch is activating but the connector going to the Compressor is not getting a 12v feed and suspects a pressure valve is not opening now my limited knowledge on aircon and discussion with other mechanics say to locate this valve and bridge the connector this will then either confirm or rule out the valve as being at fault he suspects the valve will be behind the drivers side of the bumper can anyone else confirm this and can i get to it if the bumper is left on just to disconnect and probe the end of the cable or better still tell me where the other end of this ends up and ill bridge the multipin which is where im assuming it ends up? would like to be able to get this all sorted asap as driving round in weather we have been having is starting to make me stick to the seats lol Cheers all

spursmaddave
doesnt have the same look as the OEM system lol I only meant as a temporary measure Have you tried all the usual sources for info, I doubt it is a very common point of knowledge unless you regularly wirk on Zeds
rabster
well when i did a "what if call" to nissan my self they were saying to bring it in the aircon guy is confident the system is gassed and the compressor is fine as the clutch is working so it all points to it not getting power which could be due to the pressure valve but as he never worked on one before he didnt fancy taking the bumper off on a whim so suggested i ask around so thought where better than the zed forum lol i have a complete workshop cd on my pc at work and will be trawling that when i get a spare 5min but thought someone else might have already known the answer. if the valve is faulty i will be able to bridge the 2 pins on the loom and jump start the compressor to make it low this will drop the idle to indicate there is a load on the engine thus proving the system is fine its just finding the poxy valve lol

Keyser
On the driver's side behind the bumper on the end of the air con rad there is a connector (top of the cylinder at end of rad). Not sure you would get to it without the bumper off - never tried you may be able to get there if you have no slam panel. On the compressor there is a single wire if IRC surely if this needs a 12v feed to prove the problem just run a wire from there to the live side of the battery? Can't be much more help as I haven't played around much with the aircon. Good luck
rabster
Its the coupe GT4 2005 i have no slam panel so i might be able to get my arm in to it...... will have to look at the weekend i do have a alloy rad which did make it almost impossible to change the fans last year so im wondering if maybe this connector got dislodged then maybe..... rabster
looks like there is a flying lead out the top of the aircon rad i wonder if that may have been disconnected then, gonna have to get my small camera in there to track the wire lol see if i can find it

Thats the bit you may get to below where the slam panel would be The horns are up there as well - just to make it a bit harder to get to
rabster
Where does the other end of the cable plug into Had a quick peak after washing the car but couldn't see it the camera will be going in for a closer look but if I can find the location it's meant to be in then I can try to work from both locations and find the problem.... I hope lol
