NeilMH
Sorry if I've missed it but are you sticking with the original rear suspension or changing to one of the beam conversions?
rodgeevans
reminds me of my old mini project seeing buster on the back set i had a 2 seat conversion where the roof was chopped off and the front section was removed too you then sat on the back seat to drive was a good laugh but not safe in a crash or pratical, in fact i may have a full set of spax suspension still in my garage of parts somewhere if i have i will dig it out and you can have it. Keyser
Today I tried something a bit different and a bit more challenging Starting with a standard rear quarter panel - and attack with an angle grinder repair with a welder and repeat I was having some problems but I found a tip on one of the Mini forums to get good penetration (oooooo errr ) and a stronger weld, it works as well also it helps to tap it "in" while it is still hot from the welding this means less grinding and more weld left and just for fun I stuck a bit of filler in to get a feel for the finished product think I can make it work only 3 more to go Stay tuned for the next exciting episode ................. leonk
Looking good. Wanted to do this to mine nearly 30 years ago but my Mum wouldn't let me. ( Shared car ) Apparently by this stage of modding I had already " ruined it and made it unsaleable, of dubious legality and an embarrassment to be seen in" If only I'd had a dad like you!! Keyser
Suppp ??? Would have updated sooner but it's been the same thing so here is the short version Onto seam No2 Hey Presto Moving onto seam No3 Passenger side A pillar I'll do the wing later as I can run a weld up the inside first to make it easier ......... Then onto Seam No4 Drivers side A pillar, I think my welding is getting better (or the metal was thicker ) Now before I could crack on I wasn't happy with the A panel the last owner had fitted - To far back and .......... too high its supposed to meet the sill! So that came off and went back on a bit lower of course I did the seam as well when I welded it back on Stay tuned for the next exciting episode ........................ ChrisS
If I remember, they will leak anyway. The pic Leon put up de-guttered just looks "wrong".
leonk
Have to agree Chris, think it loses that classic "mini" look if you do the roof as well. But just my opinion
