Donut Dave
Hi, I am after a P2 in the next month or 2. I am in Ashford, Kent. I have a 44 000 mile 2004 350z with full nissan service history so far. I thought it makes sense to keep this up as it comes with a years RAC cover anyway. Otherwise I'd consider Abbey Motorsport. I have been quoted £285 from Baileys NIssan Canterbury or £250 from KAP Nissan Ashford (and they will pick the car up & drop it back round for free). THe car has been to Baileys NIssan in Canterbury most of the time before, and it's still working, so that's a good sign! ANyone got any reviews/feedback on KAP Ashford? I don't want what happened to my HOnda , where I took it to dealer round the corner & they didn't change filters etc, as I checked afterwards! OllyB
Hey, never used them in Ashford but used the sister branch in Folkestone a number of years ago and I didnt have a good experiance. A guy at work who is also a Z owner used them to replace his bose with an aftermarket head unit and he ended up having to take it to another specialist audio place to get it to work. His advice to me when I spoke to him about buying a Z was, avoid! Personally I would use Abbey, bit further to go and a bit more hassle but you know your getting a quality service! glrnet
Pleeeeeease don't take it to a stealership, give Scott a call at Abbey, well worth the trip just for the toast and tea http://www.abbeymotorsport.co.uk/site_flash/index.php Hey, never used them in Ashford but used the sister branch in Folkestone a number of years ago and I didnt have a good experiance. Donut Dave
Ok thanks for the replies! I know what you're saying, but abbey don't give you rac cover for a year do they? And from what I've seen, they aren't much cheaper. In fact, probably more expensive, when you take petrol into account
OllyB
True, but is £40 worth of rac cover worth more than the piece of mind that an expert can give you?
Donut Dave
Is that all rac cover is? I thought it was like a hundred quid lol. Also, surely, if I resell the car, most people will prefer Nissan service history? And it will be worth more? I know they are mugs, but that's how it goes. OllyB
Guess it depends on what level of cover you get. If it was me I'd rather see history from a specialist.
glrnet
^^ It actually starts at £29.99 Most people who understand the difference between a spanner monkey and a skilled technician will prefer a specialist stamp. The horror stories we hear about come from Nissan dealers and not specialists known on here Is that all rac cover is? I thought it was like a hundred quid lol. Donut Dave
WHat's the latest prices for ABbey Motorsport P2? I have seen £244.50 quoted a few years ago. Is this still about right? That is for a 2004 VQ35DE . JUst out of interest, is there much in a P2 that a tech could mess up? If it's just an oil change, surely even a Nissan apprentice couldn't mess that up could they? What do Abbey Motorsport do that's so good?
OllyB
Don't know what oil they'll use for a start, if it comes out of the big barrel in the corner then it's the same stiff they put in a micra!
Donut Dave
ha ha, good point. I have already bought my own oil, some Castrol Edge that had 20% off from ECP. BUt I did wonder how the oil costs were only £20 from Nissan. I was looking at the job sheet & there is a fair bit on the service that a useless tech could just sign off without checking. I get the idea, Abbey Motorsport it is. I just need a full day off work now to get down there & back . Shame I didn't think of this earlier , as I'm going to Gatwick tomorrow
