nixy
When I bought my CTR it already had a VDO dayton MS4200 head unit with a 6 CD boot changer. This is a Sat Nav head unit and when I googled it I found it cost approx a grand. Unbelieveably the original stereo was in the boot! Now I'm in two minds here - do I leave it in the honda and hope that it's a good selling point (I really need it to go) or do I swap it back out for the original stereo? The honda has high mileage and there's quite a few out there so this could be a clincher. What do you think?

nixy
well yes I agree it would but like I said it might sell my honda easier? If i was trading it in I would of course have taken it out.

nixy
agreed, but maybe you'd buy my car over a similar one with a standard head unit? Don't know why the previous owner left it in when he traded it in!
Ian
agreed, but maybe you'd buy my car over a similar one with a standard head unit? Don't know why the previous owner left it in when he traded it in! I dont think that a standard head unit would lose you any sales. Ive left aftermarket headunits in my last few cars when ive got rid of them, mainly because ive always sold the originals though
monkfish
I agree with Tim. Can't see the head unit paying dividends when selling the CTR.

nixy
even though it's a Sat Nav?
monkfish
Wouldn't you rather have your Sat Nav head unit in your zed? And we're saying that you wouldn't lose any money in the sale of your CTR if it had the original head unit refitted.
Ian
You would make more money by selling on the sat nav than the original headunit if you didnt want it in the zed.
Zedrush
sell it on ebay for 700, then get a tom tom of ebay for 150 quid. Then have 550 to spend on a mini mac install for your 350z
nixy
mmm, there's an idea. I'm just so worried I won't be able to get rid of the CTR. Will be advertising it when I get back from Rome.
Zedrush
I sell private cars abit, had 4 last year, in all my experience, if you advertise the crx with the headunit it wont make much difference to the sale and you will not get anything for it. The fact you are a lady owner holds a better potential of selling it than having the headunit. If you want i can help list it on pistonheads, wording is important and over stating the obvious is key
nixy
do you have to be a member to sell on pistonheads? I was thinking of putting it on there.
Zedrush
No and its completely free, I sold my last car on there.
rmmackfc
Wouldn't sell CTR with head unit, keep it or flog it seperately
nixy
well that seems to be unanimous then - more bloody hassle then getting someone to swap that over for me! Why haven't I got a useful husband?
