Heart Broken!!!

Ive seen guys in tyre vans fit 225's to 10J's and anything up to 345's without problems, theres no excuse for that. I had a similar problem with mine once, I got them to pay for the cost of refurb as it was only rim damage but if Im honest I think yours are past it, the holes are something Ive never seen before :bangin:

Gutted for you man, really I am :(

I was gutted when the garage slightly marked (and on one wheel - pin pricked the inner rim) my brand new Rotas, including using enough force to make some of them slightly out of round... :scare: They scraped the old set too :surrender:

I had used a previously trusted mechanic for fitment - their machine was old too - but he'd done a good job before on OEM rims. Unfortunately, the boss was away, and it was his last weekend working at the garage ..equals slack. But when 8 wheels and 6 tyres switcharoo and a car on the hoist are involved, theres not much to do but see it through. At least they pulled the plug on your first wheel though

The damage inflicted on your wheel is way worse than mine by a long way - but I sympathise how :blackeye::byebye: you must be feeling! Tarmac is a fine fellow for offering to help out

Bravo for staying so calm! Not sure what I would have done in a similar situation - broken down in tears probably :)

+1 :console:

Utterly disgraceful... I know it's the least of your worries now, but you have to send them the bill for that... They must have liability insurance for just that kind of thing.

Tarmac is a true gent!

If this is reverse mounted, all they need are plastic caps for the feet of the machine that clamps the wheel. I use the plastic feet and cloths on top. What gets me is how the hell did they butcher the spoke as well?

Good man Tarmac for offering to help out.

For any one who wishes to have a update, its bad news.

The wheels or even the company are discontinued/bust, tarmac was great found a place in the USA, but me emailing and even calling a few more I just got the same answer.

Basically I do not know where I stand really. Haven't got a clue what to do.

Any ideas?

Recompense is what you deserve and is also your right, how you go about getting it is another matter, maybe speak to the mob that damaged the wheel in the first place again in a sensible and calm manner? You did the right thing initially by staying calm when it happened.

This isn't just a little scratch or two this is wilful neglect caused by an inexperienced fitter and to that end the company are responsible for that and making good the damage,/replacing the wheel/s. The whole situation is further exacerbated by the fact that you say these wheels aren't available any longer, this is not your fault and it should fall at the doorstep of the "fitters", they did not ensure due care and attention were carried out and they now have to face the consequences. Small claims court maybe another alternative but I don't remember what the maximum amount is you can claim. I'm sure someone will tell us soon. Ricey on here is brilliant at writing letters of complaint and fighting his corner maybe PM him too and see if he will advise you.

I know you have previously said that the wheels cannot be repaired because they are chrome but I'm sure there must be wheel repairer/chrome plating combination somewhere that can offer a solution and to that end I would contact Lepsons http://www.lepsons.com and seek their advice initially. They did work for me and they really are quite professional, if any one knows I'm sure they will.

Hope you get it sorted mate :)

Chrome? Aren't they a polished finish?

But damn, some of those gouges :surrender:

I did think that too but the OP says in his first post that they are chrome

they are repairable

chrome does not mean ireapareable. they can;t be re chromed as you would need to fill and sand the damaged area. as far as i'm aware they won;t work in the chrome plating process. but this doesn;t mean that the wheels can;t be repainted. all4 would need doing. but they could easily be painted.

I do know of a 3 stage process for spraying chrome on to anything, but i've not tried it. but the finish by the american company is mirror clear.

As above, I'd calmly speak to the manager of the place, point out it's due to their workmanship and the damage is no fault of your own, explain that you've tried to be reasonable and find a replacement wheel but they're discontinued and then see what he says - they're probably insured for this kind of thing anyway.

The only reason why I belive they can't be repaired without respraying and removing the polished lip is because iv been to three differant repair shops and they told me the same.

However one place did say about the 3 stage process but he said it was very very expensive. And he wouldn't even know where to start.

I am now trying to go down the route of claiming through their insureance, luckily I have family that can help with the legal side and are trying to find out if there is a claim of a complete set or refund for what I paid or just 1 wheel ect ect.

Thanks again guys I am taking each comment and working out the possibility of each opinion, I did consider going straight to AUTO MEDICS, however Black circles are dealing with it all for the minite and I seem to be getting a good response.

Not sure what they will say when I tell them they are no longer avilable, just gotta hope and get abit of luck!

Thanks again

Liam

you'll need to find out a price for these when you bought them new, both an individual price and a set of 4 price.

as i said they can be refurbed but probably not to original spec, but a new painted finish.

I think they are only obliged to follow compensation to whats known as a reasonable standard. but this is down to interpretation and the company ethos that you deal with. this could be anything from the cost of 1 wheel or its refurbishment, to the cost of a new set of wheels to the same value.

Polished rims can be refurbed, but if they've got an anodized coating like volks, you'll lose the protection that offers.

Have you tried somewhere like the wheel specialist or lepsons? Not many shops do split or polished rims.

Are you also absolutely sure that nobody in the usa is selling them?
