bazk87
About two months ago I posted a thread saying that I had crunching when going from 3rd to 6th, on playing with the gearbox some more it turns out if I shift quickly from 1st - 2nd it will crunch and then every gear into 6th. So I booked in with my local Nissan dealer to get it looked at and took the technician out to demonstrate it, no problems, he said to get it in straight away and they'll change the gearbox. So I booked it in for yesterday and expected my courtesy car to be ready. I gave them a call on Friday just to make sure everything was ok and they said they'd change over the insurance for me. So I land down yesterday morning and go up to reception and say that I was booked in to leave my 370z in for warranty work, said I gave a call yesterday and that I was told a courtesy car was ready for me. The extremely puzzled guy on reception seemed to panic and said they had no courtesy cars left and he could find no record of me being booked in. He eventually found my booking for Monday and said that he could give me a Micra. I politely told him that I needed something with a little better for my job and he just said that's all he could give me. A more senior member then came over and the situation was explained .. he responded, "well you didn't buy the car from us." I picked up my keys and went to leave and told them I would go to another dealers, as it is the only Nissan dealers in my local area I felt it right to give a local garage my business, as they're not a Nissan Sports dealer they don't even sell 370zs. As I was walking away the man I'm assuming the manager approached me apologised told me they have a brand new Qashqai that I could have, more to my satisfaction. All in all, I was there for an hour and a half. Not very impressed, just let's hope their mechanics are a hell of a lot better than their customer service. Dblock
Car dealerships I wonder about them sometimes. At least you got a result and hopefully you will get your car back fighting fit.
Ekona
Not having a car ready for you when they promised isn't good enough, being offered a Micra but turning it down is a bit off. It's got more storage room than a 370, so why wasn't it good enough for you? It's only a courtesy car, not a replacement.
bazk87
As it's a problem that Nissan has a duty to fix as the car is under warranty. As I paid quite alot of money for the car and pay alot of money for insurance and tax than those in Nissan's more usual vehicles I guess I expected to be treated a bit better considering I could be a valuable customer. I guess I was wrong in that assumption but if I drove a Micra, I'd have no issues having it as my courtesy car. Guess some people just have different expectations. Ekona
It's a car. You only need it for one day. Get over it. I had a courtesy Micra once. It was bloody awful, but it let me get from A-B. if image is that important to you, why did you buy a Nissan? If they spent more on courtesy cars, they'd have to charge more to make up for it. Yeah, it's nice to get exciting stuff to drive when you get a courtesy cat, but it's just that: A courtesy, not a right. It's pushing towards a rights bit more when it's a warranty fix, I will give you that though.
bazk87
I have it for a week, it was the comment that " well you didn't buy it from us" despite the fact you can't buy a 370z from them that got me.

Funny how you seem to be having a dig at bazk for trying to get a nice courtesy car when you are quite happy to do it yourself when you car goes in for a service......guess they dont have micras at the porsche garage - perhaps they should have given you a beetle instead. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=42061&start=

Not tarring all with the same brush but only if its a major/hard job that a proper tech will touch the car. For oil change, brakes and the likes a 17 year old apprentice will most likely be servicing it.
spursmaddave
Fair enough a QQ is a fair replacement for a 370 for the week, a Micra isn't
R35LEE
Micra is not a bad little car but I wouldn't have taken it either
notfub
I'd be more concerned about leaving my 370z gearbox change in the hands of a dealership that doesn't sell & therefore doesn't service 370z's. I can only imagine what the test drive will be like to make sure the gearbox is ok. I don't trust many people to work on my car unless they are known good specialists,e.g. Horsham Developments, Abbey etc. I understand you have to use a Nissan dealer but I'd be doing a little bit more research and getting my car sorted at one of the better ones that sells and has experience of 370z's, even of it was miles away IMHO. Good luck to the OP, fingers crossed for a positive experience and outcome.

bazk87
So got the 370 back yesterday with the new gearbox in it. Feels really good. Felt so good getting back in to it after the qashqai. Seriously the 1.6 petrol engine is awful, made me appreciate the 370 so much more again! Got 29mpg over 600miles in the qq WTF!

Sharpen
So got the 370 back yesterday with the new gearbox in it. Glad to see this got it sorted, did they give you any idea about why it had failed in the first place- wouldn't want to be paying for that one out of warranty

southernfairy
Realise this is an old thread but my bought from new '10 plate 370z is now on its 3rd gearbox......... Vehicle has been off the road for a total of 8 months in the 30 that I have owned it. Nissan told me that there wasn't a single other example of my fault in a 370z in the UK.... exactly the same problem as yours.
