CrustyCrab
Hi, I have always wanted a vertical tonneau cover for my 350 but I’m always too slow (or cheap) when I rarely see them come up for sale. I would like to know if anyone has one who lives near me and wouldn't mind if I used it to trace the profile to make my own? I'm in Bisley, nr Woking, Just off the M3 junction 3, Surrey. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Bacon can be offered.... Cheers, Crabs
14N
Alternatively someone can trace round theirs and stick it in an envelope then post it to you? Doesn't even matter if it's folded as it'll be used as a template anyway Just use it to create a cardboard template before you take a jigsaw to anything. I wouldn't mind having a go at making one either....
CrustyCrab
Very good point!! I'm sure a profile could be developed straight from the car but if some one could send me one it would help no end. Just use it to create a cardboard template before you take a jigsaw to anything Yeah i always try but usually end up going down the "measure twice, cut twice" route
daveparkin
Can you print large sizes at work - e.g. A0 or A1? If so, I could trace mine, scan it and e-mail it to you today. Otherwise, PM me your address and I'll get it into the post today. Dave

daveparkin
Hi Greg, Yeah, if I scan it in as A0, then you print at A0, it should be the right size. I'll put some dimensions on the scan, so you can check the scale. Dave

CrustyCrab
Dave, What a legend.... +1 Cheers Dave. You going to give it a go then? I'm thinking Carboard then MDF and then go on from there with carpet etc if it works. We can keep this thread up dated with photos
daveparkin
No problem - glad to help guys Make sure you get some pics up when you're done. The original is quite a loose fit in the gap - so don't be surprised if that's how the pattern appears!
14N
Yeah mate, gonna give it a go. Dave's posting me the template as I haven't got access to a supersize printer. Ordered the acoustic carpet today and will go get some MDF tomorrow and some spray adhesive. Cardboard will definitely be the first phase! Look forward to seeing your pics. I'll post 1 or 2 once I'm done (providing it looks ok)
