oj121
Just having a chat with a man in the know regarding sourcing some 452s (read my other thread) and form the end of August the 452 is going to be next to extinct unless already stocked. Its going to be universally replaced by the 453. Facts : In contrast to the previous FK452, dry handling has been improved by 25 percent whilst handling on wet surfaces is enhanced by 30 percent, delivering useful gains in control for lane changes and higher speed cornering. A combination of tread pattern and compound changes has led to eight percent reduction over the FK452 in braking distance on wet surfaces. To break the water film and deflect the water more effectively than conventional tread patterns, Falken has implemented three central tread grooves and staggered sipes integrated into the first tread bar on the tyre shoulder. In line with its other new products such as the ZE914, Falken has increased the silica proportion. The strain characteristics of silica offer a larger contact area and better grip for the same tyre diameter, resulting in stronger interaction with the road surface. I know this is about tyres but wanted everyone to see it in general as a lot of people run on 452's and if they are due replacing there is a choice to make. rtbiscuit
This is the new 453 looks like they've gone the same way design wise as toyo Bstone and conti etc. bye bye uni directional tread patterns.
TomS
I was going to order some 452's this week but having seen the 453's are available I thought I'd need to wait for some reviews. The only review I've seen of the 453's wasn't very good.

TomS
Saw that but 1 review isn't a review and another has done 200 miles, not really conclusive
oj121
Well the falken based facts read pretty good. Take a leap of faith and be the first mate. If they are better than the 452's then I dont think your going to get a bad tyre?!?!
TomS
Shock as manufacturer talks up it's new product Of course they're going to say they're a better tyre, until reviews/tests come out in the real world I won't be buying them, it's not the biggest investment but I don't fancy spending £300+ on @*!# rubber. It's not like they're offering a discount for first few buyers, I can wait.

BulletMagnet
...it's not the biggest investment but I don't fancy spending £300+ on @*!# rubber. Yet it is the only thing between your car and the road.... I wonder when Dan is gonna post here
TomS
I don't mean spending money on tyres shouldn't be a big investment, rather that £300 in itself isn't a big investment, but it's not worth the financial risk if they do turn out to be poo. Ekona
Somewhere about now, BM. I suspect the 453 will be a significantly better tyre than the 452, much like the jump between 040 and 050A. Means I'll have to find another tyre to pick on now
Posidrive
This is a real PITA. Replaced my fronts with 452's last week. I reckon that the rears have another 9-12 months on them but then I suppose I'll have to throw away the part worn fronts to replace all four
Ekona
You'll still be able to get them then I reckon, could take a while to use all the stock up. Or you could buy a new set of rears now and put them somewhere safe.
tez162003
I replaced the fronts on mine just this weekend. Wonder what the stance world will think as the 452 is the clear favorite out there. If anyone is interested in the construction of a 452 I had to cut mine off the wheel.
oj121
The guys that sourced mine said they could only get them at camskill or other places that still had them on shelf. Think they will be used up before long.
agentsmith350
Just ordered 4 452's from camskill myself , Wish the new ones were out a little earlier

Dblock
Cancel and send them back. How long until the new ones are sold though. T1-r's,MPS2's and gsd3's where still available for a year and a bit later and the new ones where pretty hard to find at the time. I think tyre companies wanted rid of the older stuff first. Ekona
That's what I thought, but a poster a few posts back says they're running out of stock now.
Greddy-Matt
The 453's are in stock at the moment with some places, I need all 4 swapping out so have been calling around this afternoon, £120 a tyre is pretty cheap too , let's hope they are an improvement over the 452's unlike when the 452's replaced the 451's....
