synystermike
does anyone sell regularly on pistonheads. Ive tried autotrader but haven't had a single bit of interest even though it says the advert had 200 views a week. I cant post it here because of the 100 post rule. All i want to know is if pistonheads is better for private sales.

370Ad
Always sell my cars on Pistonheads or a forum. Make sure you have a decent ad, if its priced right it will go
synystermike
thanks guys the ad expired last week, thats the whole reason i was asking if pistonheads is better.
Lexx
ink to said ad? Any link would be removed due to the 100 post rule that the OP already mentioned. PH is ok, but doesn't get a wide range of sales. It's mainly PetrolHeads that use it. If you are in a hurry to sell, then Part-ex may be the way forward even if you have to take a hit. Gball1973
....Make sure you have a decent ad.... +99999999 Try to get some pics that will make it stand out from everything else thats currently advertised
synystermike
yeah that might be worth a try.
DannyBoy
Also try and include a bit of decent narrative about the car beyond the usual paragraph of acronyms and 'well-cared-for mint example' etc. People like to buy from nice people, especially when buying private, so come across as a nice person in your ad and you're only helping yourself. I know it's not exactly the same, but I've sold three cars on autotrader (admittedly more mainstream cars) and all three went inside two days for the asking price. It could well just have been luck, but I'm putting it down to the fact I spent some time getting decent photos and writing a good ad and getting some people to read through it. Best of luck DB
Squee
Isn't it still free to sell on PH? If so then you might as well give it a go! Get it on GumTree too S.

docwra
Isn't it still free to sell on PH? If so then you might as well give it a go! Get it on GumTree too S. Only if youve been on there for ages, its £10/15 now IIRC

veilside z
i sold a car through pistonheads in april. it cost me £9.99 for the advertisment. best of luck.
CrumbMC
When i advertised my car on PH about 18 months ago you could pay a small fee for an add or have a free one which doesn';t appear till after the buyer has scrolled through all the paid ones. still if its up there it's better than nowt. I would wax the car and borrow a decent camera. Shiny pics always get much more views than dull ones.
BulletMagnet
You should get Ricey to write you the ad, he's the best man for the job
synystermike
PH may be the way to go for me then. thats a good idea about the camera CrumbMC, as i took pics with my iphone for my last ad. do you think arty pics go well with adds on PH (photoshop) or do they look too max power?? Ekona
If it's not selling, and you've had no interest, then it's priced too high. Sadly, that's the bottom line here I feel.
CrumbMC
U don't have to go mad but phone pics can sometimes come out a bit fuzzy and the car doesn't stand out and can look dirty.

synystermike
I thought that too but it was the cheapest sunset zed on the autotrader within 100 miles. now there is a new one on for 6250 but its done 25k more than my car and i was asking for 7. synystermike
I think i just need to hold out for someone who wants a orange zed because its a love it or hate it colour.
Ekona
Dodgy photos or description then. If a car is advertised well, and is a good price, then 9/10 it will sell. You're not based in Scotland are you?
