MARLON-DINGLE
Hi, Quick question and I hope its not been asked too many times before!! My garage is quite narrow (read the 350 is quite wide) and its easier to get out with the drivers window open as I can't open the door too wide. If I then activate the alarm, I would have expected the window to close automatically. Can this happen and I'm doing something wrong? As an aside, on my old car (now retired) I have a good Toad alarm which folded in the mirrors and closed the windows on activating the alarm. If as I suspect the Nissan alarm is very basic, have other owners fitted an after market alarm to enable the aforementioned things to happen? Can the nissan alarm be disconnected and an aftermarket Thatcham 1 fitted? Thanks,
Will370z
Not sure about the window but i doubt it should do that. There are a number of members who had modded tthe mirrors to close automatically when the car is locked. Im sure onewill be a long soon to post a link, or try the search
Watshot
Can the nissan alarm be disconnected and an aftermarket Thatcham 1 fitted? Thanks, I don't know if you mean for one that auto closes the windows, but the standard Nissan alarm is already Thatcham category 1. The chap that made the modules for the remote auto fold mirrors isn't available at the moment, according to other threads.
Siman350z
Yep, this feature is available on some BMW's, Audi's etc but the nissan alarm don't come with it. It is THatcham 1 but that relates to the security level rather than gadget features. As you say, a Toad or Clifford alarm will give you this (I believe it's called remote closure on the clifford for example) although that will be at a cost and in my experience they tend to be hideously unreliable- I was locked out of several Clifford-equipped cars before I stopped fitting them! The auto mirror fold which a member on here set up is, essentially a wiring bodge/ alteration in the door and although it worked well cannot be bought over the counter and the member in question seems to be awol at present. If you search and find the pics/ details on the forum though it would be very easy to replicate yourself with a few basic maplin parts and a day's time... MARLON-DINGLE
Thanks for the replies guys. I have been quoted £110 to have the Toad alarm taken off my old FTO and fitted onto the 350z. This presumably replaces the standard Nissan one. This will give me auto window closure and flip the mirrors in. If anyone thinks this is the wrong decision then please let me know. Daryl
You may struggle with the passenger side window, as it does not have a one touch operation like the drivers, though it may make no difference. Id love to get a one touch passenger window sorted

Saw them on eBay once and they were going for around £100.
