sl114
I think its about £2 per Ltr at the moment but i am not sure Anyone?
monkfish
I've heard it's about £2.40 a litre!! Also, I've heard a rumour that someone dip-tested a sample of Tesco 99 RON and it tested at 102 RON.
GC350z
F***s sake. This is so unfair. We still only get 95 and that shell stuff is reduced to 95 for the Irish market yet costs more.
monkfish
Really!!? You can't get any kind of super anywhere? That's a pisser, mate.
GC350z
Nope. It's all gone. Really sucks ass. The last company to supply 97 was Texaco and they stopped about 2 years ago. Think I'll start spamming shell.
nixy
I know i've seen this somewhere so sorry for repetition - do you have to use super unleaded in the Z or can you use normal?
Beavis
I know i've seen this somewhere so sorry for repetition - do you have to use super unleaded in the Z or can you use normal? Best to use super unleaded...nissan recommend it 98 ron. But will run on the gnats **** 95 stuff but not recommended for long periods
Zzzz...
95 RON is ok for regular use in city driving, if you are going to drive track-style then you need 98 RON definetely. As far as I understand Tesco 99 is a bit of a lottery... They will buy petrol from the major petrol suppliers (BP, ESSO, SHELL etc...) whoever is selling cheapes at that time...and buy in bulk at the lowest price. They then take it to this company which creates ethanol from enviro friendly crops, and this will bump up the RON rating to a minimum of 99. they also add some cleaning additives to help maintain good engine performance.... You can probably expect tesco stuff to be a minim of 98RON, but you could be lucky, if tescos get a "good batch" of petrol , add the ethanol stuff, and end up with something rated at 102... but this is probably a lottery... anyway nothing wrong with tescos stuff... me thinks... Beavis
I always use the super stuff as i have read it can take upto 60 miles for the ecu to remap itself!!! And i remember when i first had the car the guy before had run it on 95 ron, when i filled the tank with super for a run to Wales it took a while for the engine to settle down it was very racy at idle. nixy
I usually use bog standard sainsburys or BP - I need my nectar points!
Ian
I always use V power, have done on my last 2 cars. Only ever use morrisons petrol in my Primera though to get the points from there:)
nixy
do you really get more miles out of it or is that a load of twaddle.
Ian
I got a mate to try a few tanks last year & he would get about an extra 15-20 miles out of a tank.
Kev946
I really can't see the point of this stuff if it's that expensive. Most modern engines would not benefit in anycase. If you really want such an high octane, then by some octane booster. Much cheaper.
ir_fuel
Upping your fuel's octane rating is useless unless you start tuning your engine like crzay (playing with the compression especially)
