SteveW
If it makes no noise when the clutch is in and noisy when out its likely to be the gearbox input shaft bearing. The clutch release bearing would make noise when clutch pressed and no noise when released.

The clutch release bearing would make noise when clutch pressed and no noise when released. You've got that back to front. The release bearing is noisey on the zed when the clutch is depressed(ie not pressed)
SteveW
Balls! So anoise when the clutch isn't pressed is either the gearbox input shaft bearing or the clutch release bearing? As both bearings should be rotating when the clutch is on contact with the flywheel. I thought the release bearing only rotated when the clutch pedal was pressed? A noise when the clutch is pressed would be the pilot bearing? Or am I just talking rubbish?
