garygttdi
Hi anyone got any feedback as to what may have caused a gearbox failure on a 350, syncomesh has gone on 5th although I suspect others are weak as well. Is this a weak point on 350s? Car has done low miles on a 54 plate 2005 car, with full service history. What’s the best way forward look for a second hand box or repair the existing one? Freebird
Mine is fudged into 3rd which is annoying, I think gearboxes are a fairly common problem in the earlier cars. Can only suggest having a look through ebay for a second hand box or
DannyBoy
You're probably better off trying to find a CD009 box from a 2006 car than refurbing, as this was the strongest gearbox made for the DE engined cars. The issue with the earlier gearboxes is weak synchros as you've pointed to, and so unfortunately a refurb would probably just defer the problem as you can't replace the synchros with stronger ones, just OEM-grade items which will fail again with time. KyleR
Common problem with the early Zed's, mine has issues into 6th and less so into 5th. Had a quote of about £500 to get it refurbed or there is one in the for sale section at the moment: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=62300
