techinstaller
Hi and welcome ,no kill switch you have simply run out of fuel and will need to turn it over a fair bit to pull it through ,i would avoid running the car so low if you can as never like to think i am running on the bits and pieces of dirt slopping around in the tank, the tenner is not realistically going to carry you far in a 350Z

JetSet
just ran out of fuel due to car light saying 40miles left Surprising really, I've had mine reading 0 and still done another 20 miles or so Pete
Freebird
Had this happen to me once in my VX220. It cut out at the top of a hill on this same bit of road there is two petrol stations, there is me thinking ooh you lucky bastard ill stop at one of these, well first one was closed as it was late, the second (24hr) had the cones out because the guy running the place was having a break needless to say I normally try to fill any of my cars up now when I have about 1/4 of a tank left. With regard to it not starting like others have said it will be either pulling a load of crap through the tank, worst case is that you have clogged a fuel filter up or something and it cant flow properly. But you would have to turn it over a decent amount after letting it run dry. I hope shoving more fuel in sorts her out without any other problems

Clown
Doesn't the VX220 have like a 30l tank? Surely you should have been used to filling it up!

rothers2901
Make sure you've got a well charged battery and if you can, remove some of the spark plugs to reduce engine compression which makes it easier for the engine to turn over and pull the fuel through. Mark@Abbey m/s
flick the ignition on and off 3 or 4 times , that will prime the fuel system , then she will fire up all okay. If the car wont idle and was showing 40 miles I doubt the car has run out of fuel but something else will be causing the non running /bad running problem. joeseber
i just had someone come check it apprently he thinks that it is something to do with the ecu as when i turn ignition on the fan comes on and he said this aint normal. anyone had any type of problems like this he thinks i will have to take to nissan get it diagnosed then see wat happens hopefully they just reset it which i read on a previous forum but not to sure any info would helppp cheers
Sam Mcgoo
You could try an ecu reset, it's in the guides section how to do it, although it doesn't sound like the sort of problem that will just reset. I f I were you I would disconnect the battery for tonight and give it another try in the morning. Where abouts are you? We can suggest a specialist nearby to take a look if need be. ( not Nissan)
