marknjayne
guys...i really love the looks of my zed,but................i have only owned it for 5 weeks and find it very "wooden" and not much feedback, also feels like it weighs 5 tonne and the sound from the standard exhaust is horrible (sounds like a hoover to me),now i want to know if it can be made better, want it to sing like a V6 should do,want it to feel like i expected it to,im used to skylines etc ,have owned seven now and a lot of other fast cars and i expected the zed to be similar to a GTST skyline but its nothing like.....if i changed the exhaust would it sing a little better (as it is now its a dull boring drone that just gets louder as you increase speed),and the handling,,,its very ...uninspiring as it is ,my meriva (although its a VXR meriva) gives me more confidence and the urge to drive that bit harder ,what do you guys do to the chassis, coilovers, bush kit etc? it may sound like im being harsh but i have spent almost £3k on the zed in 5 weeks so i dont want to be hasty and just get rid without finding out if i can make it that bit more of a car i will fall in love with with just the odd couple of parts... MITZ@CougarStore
Changing the exhaust will open up the V6 sound, have a look in our trader section where there's some videos posted of exhausts we've supplied...

bkjmr
Buy some decats for the exhaust first before you buy a full system. Then if you still don't like it i'd recommend the HKS replica which is what i have got. It needs to be modified to fit a UK car. Sounds like that near enough. Also been told it flames sometimes. Plummerman
Hiya Matey Either check out Steve350z group buy on a really sweet looking Gemini exhaust viewtopic.php?f=180&t=59702 Or who also has some nice stuff on his website.. I've got ( when I finally get the lady back ) the nismo cat back.. An it's sweet sounding, can happily Tuttle round town and not get the save the world crew staring at you, then give it some beans and the noise is beautiful.. Check YouTube out, there's lots of different vids of people's exhaust notes. See which you like. A try before you buy

Ekona
the handling,,,its very ...uninspiring as it is ,my meriva (although its a VXR meriva) gives me more confidence and the urge to drive that bit harder ,what do you guys do to the chassis, coilovers, bush kit etc? Go and get a decent alignment done: Get them to add plenty of camber to the front, a little less to the back and get the fronts pointing straight ahead (or if you're feeling brave, some toe out). Put some quality rubber on there (Michelins are my preference, but the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta also gives amazing feedback) and then tell me it's not a car that you want to chuck around. Leeroy
The alignment and links should make a noticeable difference, it's quite possible that the bushes might need attention too. If you have the re040's then you need 050's at least, as ekona said there are other options but the RE050a's are a good tyre
marknjayne
40,s on the front and 50,s on the rear, everything has been pulled and tugged and only found the anti roll bar links suspect although there is some knocking on the front end over bumpy roads...also had a small airfield event and found above 120 the front goes light and i get big vibrations...maybe related to the links...hope so
Ekona
Mixed tyres and dodgy handling eh... The VUS aren't actually very grippy at all, but they do have tremendous feel. They do need a little more pressure in them to make up for the sidewalls though. Tbh given the usage of the car I suspect you're probably one of the few who would really be able to appreciate the Pilot SuperSports on there. Neilp
First thing I would do is decent rubber, coilovers and a decent exhaust. I had never driven a zed with standar suspension until last year and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. It was so soggy and the body roll was disgusting. Your tyres you have on it at the moment, especially the 40's aren't very good unless very very warm. I have 888's on my rays track wheels and they are awesome but the don't like the weight of the zed and wear fast. If you can afford super sports or can get a set of ps2's from left over stock I would get them. I put cheaper tyres on my road wheels as I was running out of money funding ps2's every 3-4k for 19's and I'm actually surprised how little difference there is between the ps2's I had and these. They haven't got very strong sidewalls but they're pretty good. It's the kumho ecsta ku31 in 19". I think the 18" will have too big a sidewall and suffer like the falkens do. If you can afford super sports then do it. Change the suspension for coilovers or eibach springs, eibach arb's and you'll have a much better car

Neilp
The rb is a nightmare of a conversion. Looked into this myself. Not the easiest to keep working well also. If converting id be going v8. Power is nothing without handling first though. Make her handle and stop an the make her faster.
marknjayne
alignment and links done today and i have to say...massive difference (and no more knocking) will have a better exhaust on in the next week or so
