wizard
I've just called them up to ask if they would insure an Skyline R32 GTR and they said they will not! - And that they only insure newer cars which participate primarily in motorsport! WTF!? - That sounded like bullsh!t too! I'm a current policyholder with them on my s/c zed. This is the first time I've had a run in with them and the service is usually A+. Can anyone shed any light on this?
wizard
I know some guys here are with CCI. So according to what this lady has just told me, MOST of you chaps policies are not valid because your car is not used PRIMARILY for motorsport. What a load of sh!te. Is Colin from CAT still on this forum? Maybe get his thoughts on this.
Ekona
CCI, much like REIS, are narrowing down what they will insure from now on: Whether that's due to their insurers or a general thing I don't know, but sounds reasonable. If they go specialised then they can probably get cheaper rates for clients rather than trying to capture all and sundry. They're not saying that your current policy is invalid, only that they won't take on any new business under that scheme. Why would they lie to you? wizard
No I can't buy that. I'm taking this further with them and speaking to the underwriters about it. To say that you only insure cars participating in motorsport but then also you can drive them on the road does not make any sense! Especially as most of their policies are the opposite of this! I've been with them for a few years so it's not like I'm a completely new customer. If there was a change in terms during that time, I certainly wasn't informed about it and I doubt any of you were as well.
Ekona
I don't understand why you're upset. This doesn't effect your existing policy in the slightest, they're just changing their customer base is all. To be fair that's how they used to be, competition car specific, until they started branching out. Just because they want to change their demographic doesn't mean that it effects you at all, just take your business elsewhere. It happens a lot right now, especially amongst Elise owners who are finding that, upon renewal, their insurer won't even offer a quote. wizard
Me "can I change my car on the policy?" Them "only if it's a two seater car" Me "huh? There are many people that have insured skylines and GT-Rs with you, why does it have to be two seats?" Them "uhh, we only insure the new GT-R, not the old skyline..." Me "I know many people that are insured with you and have a skyline." .... It just went on and on. It just doesn't make sense, that's why I'm annoyed. It's like they were purposely being difficult without having any logic to what they were saying.
Ekona
Because most normal people give up early on, so they don't have to try and explain their entire business strategy to you!
Squee
I submitted an online form one the CC website on Wednesday asking them to get back to me with a quote and they haven't bothered ...perhaps they don't want business from us Nissan owners anymore? skyinsurance
Now that's just a crazy idea!!!!11 I was possibly a little rude with that post , perhaps not ruder than usual though. It's only as I've dealt with a moaning customer today who said pretty much exactly the same thing about my company, I spent half an hour looking into it only to find he'd given us the wrong ruddy phone number. wizard
CCI reps are ALWAYS unavailable!!!! ALWAYS!! Out of trying about 50 times, I'd say i got through once!
Squee
To be fair, yes, I could have phoned them but when they invite you on their website to submit a form for them to get back to you with a quote you kinda assume that's what will happen It was lunchtime when I submitted the enquiry - I thought that as it would be a busy time of day with customers contacting them and staff taking lunch breaks it would be the most efficient way to contact them. But I'm a ditzy blonde so assumed wrong! S.
