Chesterfield
do you guys use robots.txt? Yes we do. We let the spiders have free roam, and encourage them to follow all links. Its worked too, our ranking on various search engines has significantly improved.

stuey
wot u lot on about ....spiders.............
Chesterfield
In simple terms they are just automated programs that run on google servers, they find a website, then follow the links on it, recording basic data from the page and adding it to the database as they go. You can put various bits of code in a web page to direct these "spiders" to follow various links around the site and only stay within this domain etc etc... Depending on what words etc are used, and how they are placed within a site and how often people follow the link on a search engine, determines where you will appear in the list of results on a search engine. Chesterfield
They are useful for increasing visits. Alongside flyers, spotted cards and attendance at the shows they form an integral part of how we get our name known.

Chesterfield
Yes - that area is in need of a revamp too - as we have flyers & spotted cards for free use in various formats.
