Neilp
Don't shave the arse. Wax it, that way you won't feel as though have a hedgehog between your arse cheeks after a day or 2 easier wiping also

Vik54
Like yourself Stew, i've fairly sensitive skin and occasionally get a touch of contact dermatitis. however i've found the following items/process work for me Steam from scalding hot shower and exfoliator for getting the pores open (Really should go down the hot towel route). After that the kit i use is:- http://www.origins.co.uk/product/3859/11670/Skincare/Category/Origins-for-Men/Easy-Slider/Pre-shave-oil/index.tmpl Followed by http://www.trumpers.com/product_detail.cfm?ProductID=111547251 applied with http://www.traditionalshaving.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/traditionalshaving/_EDW-BRU-81P37/268139/Pure-Badger-Shaving-Brush-Ivory Oh, and LLF at last two posts Then after :- http://www.origins.co.uk/product/3859/10405/Skincare/Category/Origins-for-Men/Fire-Fighter/To-take-the-burn-out-of-shaving/index.tmpl followed by http://www.boots.com/en/Nivea-For-Men-Sensitive-Moisturiser-75ml_18698/ He would like to add the badger brush was an Xmas pressie from his gorgeous other half - but it certainly did not only cost £18!! and I would like to add the above regimen produces very smooth results ...on my legs and pits

Builder49
Is it just me, or did the middle few pages of this thread suddenly turn into (2)bears hunting season? Glad to see it got back on topic, but you were a bit harsh on her lads! Lets be honest, we all happily chatted on her threads when we knew full well she was analysing us ! Hope you haven't scared her off for good...... Anyway, wondering now where I fall in this topic as I know longer use an elrectric razor, but not sure I'm man enough for a single blade!!!!! Iwantone
There is a specialised shaving supplies company in my home city of Sheffield. I'm led to believe that it's at the top end of the market. Here is a link, fwiw. Obviously I have no interest whatsoever in the company. http://www.theenglishshavingcompany.com/ Steve
Parsnip
I use a Gilette Fusion Power Stealth (mostly because of the awesome name) on my face when I need to look presentable - takes about 4 seconds and give a half decent result - fortunately I can get away with having a bit of face fungus on the go, so most of the manscaping is dealt with by a set of clippers. Dblock
Them fusions are proper expensive for blades.
Neilp
I found the fusion didnt last long as the blades are too thin. Currently i'm using a titanium quattro but still doesnt last long. Want to go to a single blade as stew said but its very hard trying to pick the correct one and stuff....

Want to go to a single blade as stew said but its very hard trying to pick the correct one and stuff.... Not really. Go for a Merkur any number under £30. Buy a few different blades a decent badger brush and away you go. I dont really like the futur as its to picky IMO I perfer to have a set amount of variables I dont need an adjustable razor too You will start off with a small/light razor with derby blades then when you learn to shave with it 6-12months you can upgrade to better/bigger razors and blades. I have found something that works for me now. My brother got a slant and says thats great but I tried it and thought it was too close. But my growth is less than his too. Also use a shaving cream first as you will learn to lather. Then when you can make lather with minimum amount of cream change to soap which lasts much much longer IMO. In order of sharpness and smoothness I have found this, Feathers Treet Platinums Derby Persona blue pack Astra Trig Shark Merkurs own brand Treet Gillette 7oclocks This is in sharpness and smoothness as sometime sharp blades arent smooth. Connaught shaving has some great taster packs. Just had a look at prices for 200 Treet platinums (awesome) are £12 but feathers are £48! Stew
I bought feathers to try. I have a futur, adjusted it a few times and left it where it was comfortable. I also got an alum block and some oil. I'll have to work it all out!
soimafreak
I like the idea of trying a single bladed razor, but are they a lot of hassle to maintain, with the cut throats there's a lot of sharpening involved isn't there ? :/ I would like to get to shaving more than twice a week but most commercial razors are shocking Mach3 was good,, Fusion was like shaving with a rubber, i'm currently on a King of Shaves Azor razor which is nice but still not brill. Dblock
We use double edges safety razors. For 200 bloody sharp blades it's about £12 so when it starts to dull its so cheap to change. That's you pretty much sorted Stew. How many Passes do you normally do?

That's you pretty much sorted Stew. How many Passes do you normally do? Normally three - one with, one accross and one against lathering inbetween. This is new to me so saying 'normally' is a stretch but it's so good I don't see me changing it anytime soon. I was looking at a stand to keep everything neat...... What a price for some of them!
