Diddykong157
Hi, This is going to be a long weekend! Why?... Picked up a 350z recently, but is on SORN and not worth taxing it for the rest of this month (4 days to go)! In the meantime it's been valeted, wheels refurbed in dark shadow chrome, fitted a Sony stereo I had lying around (didn't have one at all), updated the iPod, got a richbrook 350z tax disc holder off eBay. Can't wait to drive her...
ATTAK Z
I'd risk it and have a drive provided it's insured ... go on you know you want to Oh and to the forum
Zugara
you can tax it now for the following month and add 4 days I think.
choptop
you can tax it now for the following month and add 4 days I think. You can tax a vehicle 2 days before the start of the month but cannot drive the car until the 1st of the month.
Diddykong157
Oooh, it's very tempting!! Went to the post office today, they said the cut off day is tomorrow (2 days before new month)! Even if it is taxed early, it is not valid... so may get a fine?
Zugara
I have done it before, and bought the tax, for the next month and also added an extra week in the prior month. Cost a tad more but I am sure it can be done? Rules may have changed now though you can tax it now for the following month and add 4 days I think. You can tax a vehicle 2 days before the start of the month but cannot drive the car until the 1st of the month.

Diddykong157
I must admit, I drove the car home without Road Tax the day I got it, so spend 1.5 hours driving it on the motorway! It puts the biggest smile on my face I have always LOVED this car, now they're cheap, I've finally got one!
Diddykong157
Info for Ken(and anyone else interested): The wheels fitted on mine are 18" 5 spokes, with kerbing and some corrosion. Shadow chrome is achieved by preparing the alloy and spraying the wheel in gloss black, it is cured using IR(infra red) heat. It is then sprayed with chrome paint (more chrome=more silvery look). Finally, it is lacquered and cured. This method is the mobile van method (most anyway). If the wheels are sent off (done at a static unit), normally it will get completely stripped down to bare metal. Powdered coated in gloss black. Cured in a high temperature oven. Chrome paint applied. Finally lacquer coating (powder or wet depends on company). I am not here to advertise, so will just advise you to use any reputable company who know how to apply shadow chrome. Hope this helps.
