Ekona
Two octanes will be plenty.
taffyjason
take a look at some piston heads of a 350z that's been regularly run on 95, you'll soon change your mind!
bazk87
Aye, but the 370z's ecu is designed to cope with 95 octane while the 350s were not. Obviously going to be a difference. Think enthusiasts will always take better care of their car's though won't they!
taffyjason
well using 95 must be a fair old loss on horsepower even on the 370?
bazk87
I'd say youre right, knocking's no good for a car that's mapped for 98ron! Wonder are there any dyno plots of a 370 ran on
mbcx4jrh
So I got this car in the end. :o) I was reading through the manual this week and came upon the section on fuel usage. Here's what is says (roughly): --- In Europe: Use Premium Unleaded (98RON) Outside Europe: Use Premium Unleaded (95RON) If filled with 91RON then emergency only, and only fill half tank etc --- So all the talk of emergency fill ups anyway doesn't refer to 95, but to 91. It also suggests to me that the engine will cope with 95 ok as well. Perhaps the map is different between Europe (which i assume is us as well ;o) and the rest of the world? Personally, Im on 99RON from Tesco, as that's what's available nearby. But I certainly won't be scared of filling up with 95 if I need to... Dan H370
Have to admit having to put a tankful of 95 in my 370 during the the shortage a few weeks ago, but it was that or walking! Can't say I noticed any measurable difference at all. In fact got the same mileage out of it that I normally get on a tank full ofsuper. I wouldn't do it normally, it was an emergency, so please don't hate me! I can't see it causing any damage to the engine long term, just might be a bit down on power. If the 98 you put in is old, it's probably only as good as 95 anyway with the way petrol degrades.
