spike4real
Massive thanks! Only cost me £40 in tools instead of 4 hours labour from Nissan (quoted 2 hours per side). Fantastic!

reeceybeaney
My '54 Z with 69k miles has just started to click, unsure if it has done before... But will be trying this as soon as I get a chance as it seems to have good success rates! Anyone had the click come back??? Hello guys. I am new to Zed ownership and new to the forum. It seems like a fantastic guide. However i own a 2006 350z and this clicking has only just started. I am fairly competent with cars but noises make me anxious lol. RG18 Thanks If you go back through the post (maybe on the first page) there's a photo showing the two areas to grease, it's the collar of the shaft not the actual spline that needs greasing which means it doesn't need to be removed completely. I've been recommended a good quality EP2 grease which is nice and thick, not like the type of thin stuff most garages use. Use normal socket set tools to get the wheel off (+ locking wheel nut key obviously) and then a 32mm (1 1/4") socket for the centre nut once the wheel is off. If you have the basic tools and a basic knowledge of using a socket set then you should be fine!

Willsy1980
Seen someone on youtube use Blue lock tight for this, they applied it to the splines though, im guessing it's not the best idea ?
xxx180
Worked for me. Cheers for the advice guys 👠
Bhupz350
I have a clicking noise on the front passengers side, although there are no CV joints in the front. Its rotational and only seems to click when turning left or right. Any ideas?
parello9
Anyone in bedfordshire that can do this?
z350convert
Just to kick this thread off again, I am a member of the clicking drive shaft club and I found this YouTube feature promoting the notion of using thread lock instead of grease. Willsy1980 asked for comments on this but no one seems to have tried it. Any thoughts?
z350convert
I'm going to go at this. I noticed that the Nissan bulletin stated new bolts, spring washers and nuts were needed when taking the axle from the diff so I went to local Nissan dealer to order them. The Parts manager came out and said frankly there was no need to replace them but I would need new cotter pins which he went and got for me and said there was no charges. He also said get both axles out and lube the splines and back of splines, but also get some CV grease in the CV joint itself. No mention of the marine grease I was looking for to put on the axle so I think I might get some for that purpose anyway. I hope this isn't going to one of those jobs I wish I hadn't started. Sheep_Flavour
Apologies if this is a dull question, but with the clicking does it matter? Is it somthing that needs to be sorted right away or very dangerous or can be sorted when I have time. I hear a clicking on mine but only when roof or window is down so I assume it’s this but not sure. Just wondered if it is this?
Rikz2004
I'm not sure of the answer to your question, but mines had this when I bought it (the previous owner didn't even notice it, so who knows how long it actually had the issue for). I had it fixed aafter around 6ish months of owning the car I think. It's been completely fine since then, so doesn't seem like it did any long term damage. MTAC
I just brought a 2010 roadster and got the same clicking sound! Is there any safety issue with it as I planned to fix it later by a garage? Thanks.
