Fitted :cloud9:

Garage reported no problems getting the old ones out or putting the new ones in.

I've only had time for a quick blast but so far the car sounds awesome - a little louder at low revs but not intrusive, then it gets deep and throaty and as you go up the revs it just roars!!!

Will try and get some clips up soon.

Very very happy man :teeth::teeth:

Having the Berks fitted next week... I have been browsing the forum for information on common issues - e.g. P116 error code and running lean. Lots of information on here but can I just run my understanding by you...

If P116 comes on the O2 spacers from zmanalex should sort this. I am pre-empting this and buying a set now.

Long-term an uprev would be best (I will be running: JWT popcharger, Berks HFC and Milltek cat-back). The uprev will maximise performance from these mods and eradicate the running lean issue.

I am unlikely to have the uprev done soon (maybe next 12 months?) However, this is unlikley to cause damage - with the car covering about 7k miles per year.

The running lean issue would be worse if the Berks was added after the uprev.

Until the engine remap is done any performance gain from the mods I have will be minimal - rather they will just add to the aural pleasure. :teeth:

Is my understanding about right? Would anyone call me mad for fitting the Berks and running them for a year or so before having an uprev?

I wouldn't worry about the 02 sensor, it's more with decats.

I ran HFCs along with many other members without an uprev and didn't notice any difference, although the eventual plan was an uprev to get the most out the car.

GRRRRRrrrrrrrr

don't let anyone tell you this is a simple job :headhurt:

passenger side Cat now removed after 1 bolt sheared (the one through the engine bay)

drivers side..............bolt through the engine bay will not budge !!!.......and to make matters worse the bolt head may have slightly rounded now :bang:

any suggestions anyone ?

started at about 9:30am, gave up at 3:00, time to let some wd40 soak in - the car is only 6 months old so not really a rust problem but those bolts through the bay are soooooo damned tight

Try some PlusGas instead of WD40, WD40, although having some benefit is more of a moisture dispersant. It is interesting that WD40 now sell a rust penetrator/release agent too :)

I don't recommend anyone attempt fitting these themselves.

Choose a specialist performance garage with experience of fitting this type of mod.

+1 to that, as i mentioned in my install thread its a tricky job and rosie put up a real fight.

Getting to the top bolts via the engine bay is not easy and then the bolts do put up a fight. It took us hours and some of darrens magic to get those top bolts off. Both sheared for us too. Try some of the spray graham mentioned, thats what sorted us.

Good luck with it, it will all be worth it.

Dont worry mate i felt exactly the same. At one point darren looked at me and said that bolt wont come off. I thought i would be driving home with the stock cats after spending hours trying to sort it. In the end she finally gave way.

good news (and bad)

1stly the good - The old cats are off (without shearing the 2nd bolt - not a problem if they do though as the cats just come off then and new bolts with the HFC's)

bad news - the "extra" bits still haven't arrived :bang:

so the HFC's are on and the original CBE is off the car - once it arrives, shouldn't take long to put together - I just can't wait now :bounce:

:teeth: Mine just arrived but im going to wait till the exaust is here and do it all in one go.

Im praying it go's easier than ioneabee's as im doing it myself.

good luck with that - good pointer though is get some of that Plusgas (and leave it to soak in) - that combined with brute force and ignorance worked for me in the end and don't worry if the bolts shear

Seriously, ive had high flow cats put on both my 350 and 370, i agree wholeheartedly with tarmac, get professionals to install it.

Its a very tricky job, especially going in through the engine bay. Also if anything goes wrong its up to the garage to fix it. For the sake of 50-100 quid its a far better option.
