As above, I've got the next couple of days off work and I'm thinking of doing the Novice trackday at Snetterton this Wednesday (21st March) to stretch the Zed's legs a bit.

:drive1

Would be good to have a few Zeds there if anyone else can make it?

Club MSV - £99 for day - (5 x 20 min sessions) info here: http://www.clubmsv.com/car-home/event-d ... uctid=1168

Come on, you know you wanna. ;)

What does a track day involve? Sorry, I am a complete novice  I would like some one-to-one training because I need to learn to drive my new car properly (getting it next week) as I am totally clueless and don't want to mess things up!

by the looks of that one the day would include a drivers briefing first

and then you have slots in which you can go out on the track. each one is 20 min, you can stay out the whole time or come back in to the pits anytime you like and go back out.

its not a race, so although everyone is going fast you can go at your own pace, learn the track and the feel of the car.

if your a novice and would like some tuition, there should be someone available, but best to contact them first to let them know, and then you can pay by the session to have a driver with you.

club organised ones are often the best as people tend to be more respectful of each other on the track etc and you get less numpties. MSV tend to be pretty good and their mashalls don;t tend to take much rubbish from people.

personally if you want a safer environment with tutition to learn about your car and have fun, go book yourself on something like a CAT driver training day.

they set up little track layouts, and its only 1 car at a time out, and the only thing to hit on the airfield is cones. lots of run off and a good fun day.

taster days are about £40 but you don't get much tutition, full CAT days are about £130 i think but you get someone in your car with you to give you pointers etc.

I've done the taster days as i like a hoon, and did things like high speed corners and short sprint courses as well as a full track layout.

its safe its fun and a great taste of fast driving and a good stepping stone into track days

Thank you for explaining that. I really know nothing as Manuel from Fawlty Towers used to say :D That sounds perfect for me as I need to learn a heck of a lot and I'd rather do it in relatively safe surroundings than on the public roads.
