Madhatter
Hi Contacted a reputable body shopping Cardiff for some work on the 350z. The previous owner unfortunately scratched the bottom of both nismo side skirts so getting them sanded down, filled and resprayed. While I'm at it Im thinking of deburgering the car - so front nimso mk1 bumper, filled, and resprayed to remove stone chips, etc. Finally rear burger removed and welded, painted. Then the reverse sensors sprayed and the middle two cleaned up as they aren't fitting quite right. All to be resprayed in gun metal. Had a quote of £1k all done and baked - it sounds a bit expensive to me but just wanted to her your opinions of possible. Any help much appreciated been out of the body styling game for a while so not sure what prices are nowadays.
scubapics
Best to go get at least two more quotes. Then you will know a) if the prices are reasonable whether the first is a cowboy outfit or not by comparing premises and people.

Dave J
I'm in the motor trade and use a local painter who's not only excellent but also very reasonable. Another good point is that they have no interest in 'seeing how quick your car is'............another vital element in my eyes!! I've just had some paint done on my 350 and they've done an outstanding job yet again. The blending is excellent and i've never been disappointed with them as of yet. They've done everything from full re-paints to small blow ins for me on all cars from BMW X5's to Mazda RX7's. It may be a bit far from you though as they are based near to Blackwood but they may be worth a call? Dave.

Madhatter
Thanks Dave! Ian the place on City Road, that's not the replacement for AutoImage is it, owned by Chris? They used to be great and their work is normally very good. However an incident with the owner not paying after I did a load of web work for him has ummm left me avoiding the place I used to love AutoWorx in Treforest while Shaun owned them but alas he's moved on as well ;( are we losing all the good chaps around here? I did catch the LHS extended air scoop on a Focus smashing off the end piece but the guys at Albion repaired it to a brand new standard for around £100, pretty good when a new one was £600 Pop in anytime, the kettle is always on!! Ian
Yup Ary's S/C NSX, absolutley insane car. I remember following it through the tunnels once & the noise He spent an absolute fortune on that car, all real high end parts aswell
Dave J
I think he spent around £45k on it, i know it was a serious amount of money It was pretty quick but also a lovely car to drive, did you ever hear it with the Ferrari pipes fitted? They were so loud i only drove around 5 miles then took them off
Ian
Last time I seen him he was running the titanium pipes
Madhatter
Dave - you've got some seriously gorgeous cars there! Def need to arrange a visit up to see some of them - that 996 in Yellow was stunning
Dave J
I've been lucky enough to own some great cars, it can be fun running a car business when it's going well I owned the yellow 996 a couple of times, i had to sell it originally to clear a VAT demand then i took it back as a part ex against my 996 Turbo..........now that was a fantastic bit of kit!! I then sold it to fund an R34 GTR, i also loved that.......for a while anyway You are always welcome to pop in, kettles always on!!
Madhatter
Well I tried these chaps and well let's say I'm totally gutted (I fear the sear filter couldn't handle my real comments)....my pride and joy looks worse than my falling-apart 15 year Ford Escort! The car looks considerably worse now than when it went it - in fact totally ruined! I just don't know where to start! There's so many runs, the chips and scuffs on the sideskirts haven't been filled - just sprayed over so stand out, the front nismo skirt has stalactites from paint run, they've over sprayed onto my carbon scuttle panel and the boot smooth looks like it's been sanded down with a wire brush!! And I stupidly paid as they promised to resolve this next week - why was I so stupid! I'm so furious and gutted Giving them a chance next week to resolve but not holding out....
